Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Southern California but have lived in the Colorado all my adult life. My wife and I have 4 children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have 4 wonderful children. We love living in Colorado for all the things we can do together here. We enjoy skiing and snowmobiling in the winters and the summers are full with hikes, boating, outdoor volleyball, softball and swimming at the local pool. Basketball is my favorite sport and I play that as much as I can all year long. My wife and I met at BYU and we follow BYU football and basketball and enjoy seeing them live when they are playing close. I own a company specializing in organizational cabinetry, closets, garages and anywhere else in the house that needs help. I enjoy working with people and solving problems. Woodworking is something I enjoy but I spend most of my time in sales and marketing instead of working with the wood myself. One day I might have the time to make it a hobby!

Why I am a Mormon

I have attended the Church or Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life. I grew up in Southern California where it was common to have only 2 or 3 other Mormon kids in the same grade so while we were few in numbers we were not alone. I think this really helped me see the differences between my friends and their families and their morals and what my parents taught me. We believe in abstaining from alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and premarital sex so by the time I hit high school I really needed to take a firm stand or fall in with the rest of the crowd. My parents, church leaders and LDS friends, along with other christian friends, helped me have the strength to resist temptation and I am thankful for that. At some point in everyone's life we need gain a testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and understand why we need to keep the commandments. I have had numerous spiritual experiences and confirmations that God loves me and he sent His son Jesus Christ to the earth to atone for my sins. I have felt strong confirmations many times that through the prophet Joseph Smith that Jesus has restored His church here on earth in the latter days. Once we have a testimony of the most important things, it is easy to understand and appreciate the other points of the gospel and gain a testimony of them as well. Many see the "Mormon Commandments" as a long list of "don'ts" but when you have a testimony of these things you see them as a way to live your life free of things that can harm you. Free from things that Satan uses to destroy people's lives. Commandments from our Heavenly Father are there for our happiness and protection. They do not restrict us but rather they keep us free.

How I live my faith

No time to write this now. I have to run to church!
