Hi I'm Ric

I love the outdoors. As a family we camp and fish often. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a teacher and love to teach. However, when there is time away from my occupation, I enjoy camping and fishing with my family. My wife and I have six children and we love to go to the outdoors with them. We enjoy getting away from the noise, distractions and hurried pace of the world and slow down in the outdoors. We have annual camp-outs as a family. My boys particualarly like to fish - and it doesn't matter if it is a lake, a pond or a stream.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon becuase I believe in Jesus Christ. I am grateful for the teachings of the Savior and how His teachings help me to improve my character and become a better husband and father. As a family, we try to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ becuase we know that joy and happiness come from following Him and His teachings. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches about the Savior in a way that helps me to relate to Him and apply His teachings in my life regularly. I am grateful for the emphasis on strengthening the family becuase I love my family and I want my relationships with my wife and children to be eternal. I know that Jesus Christ was resurrected as the scriptures testify and that he lives today. I know he leads and guides the Church and our lives through revelation. I love the Savior.

How I live my faith

I try to live what I believe by regularly studying the Bible and Book of Mormon. I love the feelings and thoughts that come to me while I study God's words. As a family, we meet together weekly to have a lesson from the scriptures about the Savior's teachings. Sometimes I or my wife will give the lesson, sometimes our children will lead out. Treats are almost always part of this family gathering! As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have an opportunity to visit with my neighbors at least monthly - we call it 'hometeaching'. I share a message from the scriptures and words of our leaders and check on the well-being of the family. It is always a great experience to visit with good families. In my other church assignment, I get to work with the youth in our church (ages 12-18). We have weekly activities from fun and games to gospel instruction. The youth in our Church are wonderful and I consider it blessing to get to work with them.
