Hi I'm Gina

I grew up in and around Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I come from a musical family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Mother of one and have three beautiful grandchildren. My family is everything to me and I enjoying spending time with them. I especially enjoy my grandchildren who truly are treasures from heaven. I have wonderful parents and siblings. I am self employed part-time as a nail technician. I have many hobbies and interests such as, fishing and camping, ten pin bowling, music and song writing, and arts and crafts. My passion though is family history. You could say that I am addicted to family history and finding my ancestors. I am currently serving as a Family History Consultant in the Church. I love to help people find their ancestors and I have enjoyed the opportunity to help with the Family Indexing Program of the Church. It is my greatest desire to one day visit the countries of my ancestors and to visit historical Church sites and to have the privilege of seeing and serving in the Salt Lake Temple.

Why I am a Mormon

As a child religion was not really apart of my family although my extended family were very much a Christian people of few faiths and denominations. As a child I had the opportunity to go to church with my step grandparents who were Seventh Day Adventists. It was here that I gained a knowledge of the Saviour and His love for us. Church was not a regular thing for me but when I did go I enjoyed learning about the Saviour. Then time pasted and I found myself married at a very young age and it was during the early days of my marriage that I was drawn once again toward the Saviour. I woke one day to find that I had a yearning, a need, to be an active Christian, so I started my search for a church that I could be happy in. Needless to say my search didn't give me what I was looking for and I found myself giving up on the idea. Mind you, I didn't know what it was I was searching for. Some time had passed, a few months, and I found myself in a new home and area. In the first week of moving into my new home the Mormon missionaries came to my door and said they had a message that they would like to share with me. I gladly invited them in to hear their message. As I listened to what they taught me over the next week I was very much at ease with their message and teachings. I was then invited to attend a missionary fireside in the home of a Church member. This was the turning point in my life. The fireside was on Temples and the purpose of Temples. I learned that night, as I watched the film, that families are eternal. That marriage and the family relationships that we have, when families are sealed in the Temple, last beyond the grave and into eternity. I learned of the need to be actively engaged in family history so that we can provide these eternal ordinances for our ancestors also. At the end of the film, I was so overcome with emotion and the Spirit of the Lord that I told my missionary friends that I wanted to be baptised. I had finally found the Church of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am actively involved with Temple service and family history research. I serve as a family history consultant and love to help others with their family history. I go visiting teaching every month with my sister companion to visit the sisters that are assigned to us. Through this calling and service we are able to care for the needs of our fellow sisters of the Church. I strive to live in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord and to be a good example for my family, who are not members of the Church.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Before I joined the Church I did all the things that the Word of Wisdom teaches us not to do, after all, this was considered normal, but after joining the Church I found in my new faith the desire to live a healthier life. This meant of course giving up all that was considered dangerous to my health and body. It didn't take me long at all. I quickly adopted this health code and found that my life was richly blessed. I had better health in body and mind. I also learned that when you faithfully live by the Word of Wisdom that you become more attuned to the things of the Spirit. Show more Show less
