Hi I'm Leilani

I grew up in Lower Hutt,N.Z. I have done a lot in my 28yrs, sports, travel, debating, family and more stuff to come. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Talking about me, my favourite subject. I am a happy yet very opinionated wife. I enjoy healthy conversations full of lively expressions, thoughts and ideals. It was a huge shock to my husband who can be described as a quiet gamer. However after nearly 5yrs of marriage and nearly 3, currently 2 very independent, outspoken children, my husband is now quite verbal, much to my delight. I love motherhood, even though growing up I was very career minded and achievement in all areas was encouraged and ingrained. I enjoy a good book and can't wait to have my third baby so I can get back into shape by playing sport, all sport that involves a ball and other players, team based sports I enjoy more.

Why I am a Mormon

It can be easily said that I was born into the church and have stayed, but that would be boring and untrue. I come from what could be termed a part member family, my mother is 3rd generation lds and my dad joined the church when I was 9, however he was not fully converted. He is a great dad and knows the church is true and encouraged and supported all the gospel teachings from primary, youth, seminary, institute onwards to my mission and temple marriage. Eventually and hopefully he will apply the gospel to his own life. I am an active lds member now by choice and obedience. A lecturer once said of knowledge, "Be careful what you ask for, of much is given much is required." When I read the scriptures or the ensign the words of past prophets, both biblical, in the book of mormon and latter day, it humbles, strengthens and encourages me to strive to be obedient and apply Christ' teachings to everyday living. I say with conviction, I'm a mormon, to honor my covenants and happily share the blessings I receive and will yet receive.

How I live my faith

In my ward, we have callings. It is volunteer and we have a choice to accept or decline. When you understand the teachings of Jesus Christ you just want to serve others around you as He did. So you normally accept. These callings help you grow closer to Christ as you need his help through guidance and inspiration. I currently get to work with the Young Women of our ward, the specific age from 14-16. I am their advisor. Even though they are half my age, times have changed, there a similar challenges in which they face now, that I did at that time of my life. However we have many church materials to aide us to teach from and help us to relate. This is a great help as I'm not a qualified educator. I was only recently called to this position so I haven't been to many activities yet, but its not just a sunday attendance church, it is a way of life and so not only are the youth at church on sunday for 3 hours but we have early morning seminary for 1 hour in the morning learning from the scriptures, and an activity night on wednesday for 2 hours. Within my own family, my husband and I are very good at the moment in holding our family song and prayers everyday and family home evening on monday nights. We have a mini lesson, 3-5 mins long of the teachings of Christ and we play and sing a lot of action songs, hiding seak and soccer kicks. It seems easy now as our children are young.
