Hi I'm Monica

I am 18 and studying in my first year at university. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am oldest girl in my family, with 4 brothers and one younger sister. I have worked for a year and a half in Outside School Hours Care, and I loved it. I have spent two years studying the Arts in one of Brisbane's university's, and loved the opportunity to broaden my knowledge on a daily basis. In January I decided to put my studies on hold to serve a mission for my Church. I have been called to the Korea Seoul Mission and I will spend 18 months over there sharing the gospel.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My parents had also been members their whole lives, and always taught me the values found in the gospel, like honesty and responsibility. So it was natural for me to be active in the church as a child and to continue in that way as I grew up. I made friends in the church and for a long time I went to church for the social rather than the teachings. When I was 16, however, I suppose I realised that I was dedicating a lot of time to what I felt was some sort of club or society and that is when I needed to know for myself whether the church was Jesus Christ's church. After that I searched for an answer and a testimony. I found it over many months of praying to know-not all at one time and straight away-but this knowledge has changed my life and gives me the courage to stand up for my beliefs. How do I know? I know because my life reflects the teachings of the gospel. I know that prayers are answered because mine were and continue to be. I know that God knows me and loves me because I feel the comfort He gives me in times of trial, and it is always exactly what I need.

How I live my faith

I am a full time missionary for the next 18 months in Korea. I am so excited for this opportunity that I have to embrace another culture and way of life. What is really amazing, though, is what I will be doing over there. My life has been blessed by the truthfulness of the gospel, and I have the opportunity to share that with others. I know that lives will change for the better as people accept the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Seeing this change will be the most enriching experience that I think I will ever be a part of.
