Hi I'm Annabelle

I grew up in the Houston area. I'm a believer in people and beautiful things. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family with lots of boys and too many crazy moments to count. I'm a year-round hot chocolate drinker and I think earth tones are the prettiest of them all. Running, swimming, and really whatever sparks my interest at the moment are a few of my favorite things. I love people. And, the environment. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ---the difference it makes every day is something I'm still trying to wrap my head around. My husband and I got married right after graduating college and I still feel like the luckiest girl in the world with him by my side. I'm a community health educator with a degree in Public Health to help others know more about themselves and the world around them for the better. For 18 months, I served as a full-time missionary in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to help others come closer to Christ. And, to be happy. Because that's what this life is all about.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that if you don't stand up for something, you will inevitably fall for anything. With 97 voices surrounding you at any time, you have to know ahead of time what you want to listen to. Otherwise, you'll never really know who you are (yes, it's as dramatic as it sounds). I believe there is a point in everyones' life where a person has to take a step back and decide who they want to be; who they can become. When I took that moment, that "step back" to figure out for myself where my life was going,---where I was going--- I didn't like it. With that, I realized the need for change and have been working on it ever since. Besides, we're all a work in progress. I believe, with just about everything I've got in me, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Everything falls into place and just makes sense. Any question or situation that makes me question who I am or where I come from can be answered from the ultimate source of truth. God is there, waiting to give us the answers if we want them. I am a Mormon because stability and truth is the kind of foundation I need when the world is always changing.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? Well, that daunting question is something that I've thought a lot about. It's one thing to state your faith or blatantly say "this is what my parents believe" and it's another to live it---to have those beliefs become who you are. And, not because someone told me to. Faith in itself is something that needs help; it needs some kind of catalyst or else it'll dissipate pretty fast. Actively participating and becoming the person that I hope to be is how I live my faith. By being a friend, or even just setting an example of how to be happy in life, I (and anyone else for that matter) can shine as an example and testimony of light.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Family is the best! Our Father in Heaven (God) provided an incredible plan for us to be able to return to Him. With that, we've been given the opportunity and blessing of being organized into families from the very beginning. They are a support system of trust and love who understand you for who you are. My own family is pretty spread out across the United States and back again and I don't get to see them too often, but I know that they're there no matter what (whether they like it or not!) Although family may drive you crazy at times and bring challenges in itself, it's a safe place of strength and tangible truth of God's everlasting love for us. Show more Show less
