Hi I'm Dan

I work in government finance. I'm a certified public accountant, I have a black belt in karate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm an accountant by training and have worked in government finance, auditing and management for 27 years now. My favorite sports (to do) are karate and racquetball. I have a wonderful wife, five grown children and three grandchildren so far. I like being positive about life. I have a bumper sticker that says, "Is it Monday yet?" In addition to English, I speak some Mandarin Chinese and am learning Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was in US Army basic training, one of the men in my platoon was a Mormon, and he was an excellent example of goodness, dependability and courage. I asked him what made him different from everyone else there. He invited me to Church with him. When I entered the building I felt such a feeling of love and acceptance. The missionaries taught me about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. When they told me of Christ's visit to the American continent, I knew in my heart it was true. Since then, the Book of Mormon has been my favorite book. I strive to read, ponder and follow its teachings every day.

How I live my faith

I've had many opportunities to serve in the Church. My favorite assignments have involved teaching: I taught a daily early-morning religion class for high school students for several years, I've taught Sunday School classes for youth and adults, and I've worked in the Scouting program. I've also been able to help with some of the administration of our local church units. Currently my wife, daughter and I are serving in a Spanish-speaking congregation. I also try to help in my local community. Currently I'm serving on the board of directors of our local homeless shelter.
