Hi I'm Zan

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband and father of two boys and two girls, ages 13, 10, 8 and 4. They are full of energy and life. My wife and I have been married 18 years and love vacationing with one another and our children. We have made many memories as we have visited many places. We also enjoy time as a family skiing and riding four-wheelers nearby our home. I work as a civil engineer on infrastructure projects for our local communities. While challenging and difficult at times, this allows me to show my children how each of us can make an impact on our communities if we get involved where there is a need.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of the guidance it provides to me and my family in coming closer together and to our Savior Jesus Christ. As we follow the principles taught by Jesus, we are able to have perspective on how to deal with life's challenges. As a bishop, I have met with many people who have lost loved ones or faced tragedy in their lives. Understanding the teachings of Jesus Christ, they have perspective on why these things happen, what will happen in the future and how to cope with circumstances what every they may be. Seeing how the Gospel helps them helps me have that same perspective. As a Mormon I have great opportunities to get involved and help my neighbors and community. By putting myself aside and helping others, I am able to have a sense of what the Savior experienced and felt like while walking the earth. Being a Mormon gives me a direction to teach my children to be like Jesus Christ and good members of society. They have learned to help others and put themselves aside as they serve friends and each other. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Our family is actively involved in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. My wife and I serve in our local congregation by working with young men and women. We are able to work on service projects and various scouting activities that help them grow and become great men and women. I currently serve as a bishop of our ward. As such I am able to interact with many members of the church and help them come closer to the Savior Jesus Christ. I meet regularly with members of our congregation and learn of their experiences and challenges they face. Meeting regularly with the youth in our ward is a great experience. They face many challenges, but have many successes as they strive to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ at home, school and day to day life. Our oldest child serves in the Church as a youth group leader in the church and in scouting. By serving he is able to learn about how the Savior taught others by following his example. He is also learning leadership skills to help him serve in other church callings and responsibilities in the future. Watching him develop these skills is a blessing of living the Gospel.
