Hi I'm Freeman

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 28 year old husband and father to 2 beautiful kids. I'm currently attending university in Rotterdam, taking a Masters degree in Shipping & Transport. I work at a port harbor in Mozambique. It's a pretty cool job. I love working with people, ships and especially the logistics and planning part of my job. But I plan to change carriers down the line and jump into law. My hobbies and interests include reading and writing. I'm a bit lazy to write, but I'm a good writer, when I get down to it, I go crazy and very deeply emerged. I write philosophy, fiction and biographies. I love life...

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized at a very young age (9). But I think I was converted to the gospel of Jesus Christ later in my teenage-hood. I grew uneasy with following blindly the testimonies of my family and friend and I wanted to Know for myself. Unlike most people my story starts with the book of Doctrine & Covenants. My goal was to establish the truth about Joseph Smith through the historical facts. It only made sense to me that if Joseph Smith was what he claimed to be, then everything else is true. The light came gradually until it grew into a strong testimony of the young prophet. Then everything else fell into place. Now almost 20 years later, I'm still a Mormon because everything has been so consistent and besides the challenges, I've been happy. I don't know if I can be this happy elsewhere, but I'll take my chances where I am. It only make sense, living prophets for our day, with a message especially for us. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, so if He had a prophet yesterday, why cant He have one today and forever? If He had something to say then, why cant He have something to say today? This I've only found here with the Mormons and that's where I've made my home.

How I live my faith

It's not easy to be a Mormon especially with the high standards that I pledge to follow in a world that does exactly the opposite. It all look overwhelming looking at it that way. But it I let myself focus on where I am at that particular time and do "the little things that matter most" then I've won the battle that day. Tomorrow I do the same thing, and so on. I live my faith by concentrating on the small things, like i wake up at 6:45 and study my scriptures for like 15-30minutes. Then I kneel in prayer, and pray also just before I go out. I listen to book on my phone, right now I'm listening to "Jesus the Christ". I socialize with all kinds of people, and I've learnt not to judge them. When they order a beer, I order a soda and when they ask, I explain to them (not preach) why I don't drink nor smoke. I teach my kids to pray when they rise up early in the morning, before meals, and before going to bed. I spend most of my free time with my family, at home, at the beach or just driving around. I feel I need to prepare those kids well before they grow older and go out into the world. It's hard, mine didn't come with a handbook of instructions or a manual, but I ask God for His guidance. He does help me. So, that's how i live my faith, by doing the little things and let the bigger things will take care of themselves.
