Hi I'm Ben Hildebrand

There was no beginning, there is no end. Such divinity is also found with a golden spiral. I'm a mathematician. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Washington state and my whole immediate family resides there. I graduated with a double major in Physics and Mathematics. After completing my undergraduate degrees I moved to Texas in pursuit of graduate school. I have just finished my first year in graduate school and am about to start the second. My passion lies in mathematics and the general nature of things. Particularly, I'm interested in applied and computational mathematics. For fun I like to kick back and watch movies, play a little XBOX, go for evening walks, and read the "occasional" math book.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, however, I was not always active. I found my place in our Eternal Father's plan just before I moved to Texas. A friend from high school invited me out to the local Young Single Adult branch. So I prayed earnestly to our Father in Heaven that if going to this church was what I was to do, then please help me to keep with it. Once I had moved to Texas my testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true grew through many special experiences. And after reading the Book of Mormon from cover to cover, I cannot deny its truthfulness. My past has some spiritual scrapes and bruises, but I know that through faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, we can be saved from and forgiven of our sins. Those scrapes and bruises have been healed through the Atonement of the Savior. Through much diligence and sincerity of prayer and the shedding of many tears, I have repented of those worldly things that I have participated in. This temporal life still brings many trials to us all. But Christ suffered ultimately, and there is nothing He cannot understand. If we are willing to submit to our Father in Heaven, and repent through the Atonement of His Only Begotten Son, we can return to Him and live an eternal and celestial life.

How I live my faith

The following scripture has inspired my work in the Lord's church. "Nevertheless, he that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven." -D&C Ch. 1 Verse 32. From this scripture I have put forth much of my time and effort to the responsibilities and privileges of the priesthood, which is the power and authority to act in God's name. I serve in the church as a home teacher and the Elder's Quorum secretary. As the Elder's Quorum secretary I do what I can to keep the Elder's Quorum organized. This is sacred work. This is work ordained of God. And we are commanded to DO the commandments of the Lord. Whatever calling I may receive, it is received through the desire of our Heavenly Father and I will serve Him. At the very least, I pray each and every morning as well as each and every night. I pray to our Heavenly Father in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Chirst. I have great faith in the power of prayer and in the guidance and protection of the Holy Ghost, through whom all things may be known. Many blessings have come from this mighty gift of communing with our Father in Heaven.
