Hi I'm Gerri

I grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. I'm a daughter, a sister, a mother, a grandmother and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm nearly 70 years old and am sort-of-retired. I have many hobbies, such as sewing, oil and water color painting, quilting, gardening, reading, walking, spending time with my grand children. I spend a lot of time doing volunteer work and wonder how I every made time for a job, because now that I am retired, I am busier than ever.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to have been born in the church and so when I was 8 years old chose to be baptized a member. Although I attend church from the time I was born, my real conversion came as a teenager when the teaching of the gospel helped me to make right choices and become a better person. I could have not raised my children as a single parent from the time they were 4 and 8 without the strength that I received from being a member of the church.

How I live my faith

I have accepted the invitation to work in many of the Church Auxiliaries and these experiences have helped me to build close relationships with others and experience the joy of growing as a follower of Jesus Christ. I have had the opportunity to work with the sisters of the church and become a part of a World-wide Women's Organization where I have been responsible to assure that we had teachers to help us learn skills and study the gospel. I have felt the joy of service to others on a monthly basis as I visit their homes to discuss the teaching of the Savior and the Prophets, knowing that I have and can make a difference in their lives. I've enjoyed gathering with other members to clean up a City Park so that other members of the community can enjoy it. One of my favorite Service projects was when member from all over the state gathered to make /school packs, baby blankets, quilts, and hygeine kits to be used to aid people of the world in times of disaster such as earthquakes, floods, tornados, hurricanes and other natural disasters. I pray each day that I become a better follower of the example that Jesus Christ gave us.
