Hi I'm Marie Hamilton

I'm a Mormon. I am a single mother of three children and live near Houston, Texas.

About Me

I attended BYU and studied fashion merchandising. I love to sew. I have made numerous quilts and I sew clothing when I have time. I enjoy playing the piano and gardening. I like classical piano music, and I usually try to grow edible produce as well as flowers. I enjoy traveling also. I've seen many states and have been to Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, and thirteen countries in Europe. I have visited relatives in Finland and France several times. I was able to visit a new country a few years ago with my mother and my youngest two children, Estonia, which was very historical and nice. I enjoy my job at my children's school cafeteria and hope to one day teach second grade in a public school.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the church before I was born so I was fortunate to be raised with Primary and Seminary in my life. I learned to read the scriptures and pray. Through the years I have grown to love the gospel more and more, and have strong convictions about the Savior's love for us. When I attend the temple, which, fortunately, is nearby, I feel a peace within like nowhere else, because I know it is truly the Lord's house. I also have a good feeling knowing that I am helping others do something they cannot do for themselves.

How I live my faith

I enjoy attending ward functions and seeing friends in my ward "family". I use the term family because since I see them weekly I feel like I know them very well and they are familiar to me. Ward members have helped me through many tough times, and I have always tried to be there for them also, when they need me. I couldn't imagine trying to raise my children without the gospel in my life. I hope and pray that they will find for themselves the joy the gospel can bring to them in their lives.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Marie Hamilton
The gift of the Holy Ghost was spoken of when Jesus was baptized, and he promised that others could receive it. The Holy Ghost can be with us when we our lives are in tune with the principles of the gospel and we have faith, and are baptized and confirmed. I have felt promptings in my life that I recognized as whisperings from the Holy Ghost. I want to always be able to listen to the promptings and follow them, because the Lord knows what is best, and I will be safe and able to stay on the straight and narrow path that leads to eternal life that way. When I take the sacrament each Sunday I renew the covenants I made at baptism so I can keep the Holy Ghost with me. Show more Show less
