Hi I'm Samuel

I'm from Austin Texas, I enjoy bike riding, reading and a day at the shooting range, I'm not a real cowboy but I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have very spontaneous personalty with very dynamic interests. There is a good chance that my hobbies today will not be my hobbies tomorrow. Fortunately for me, I learn the basics for new skills quickly, but I lack the patience to learn anything well, my attention spa is too short. I love music, of all genres, as long as its good. I particularly love the piano ad the organ and learning to play keyboard instruments is my only enduring interest. I'm naturally shy, and have been driven out of that comfort zone many times, and for my own good. For the last year of m life I have been serving a mission in the chilly state of Idaho and have since been far from those comfort zones of my past. God and religion play a huge part in my life but it hasn't always been that way. I wouldn't call myself an atheist, I believed in a god, but I did not know Him or invite him into my life. Though God wasn't much part of my life, he was guiding it. I have been blessed with great friends who have shown me the path to happiness, and by no coincidence it is the path Jesus Christ walked. I strive to follow him, but I'm not perfect. All I know is that despite my mistakes, as long as I keep fighting to do right God will help me. Throughout my whole life I have been changing, usually for the better. Sometimes its easy to change, and at other times it seems near impossible, but the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a gospel of change, so that's what I do.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the LDS faith because of my family and friends; my family, not because my parents made me go to church every week, but because my parents have shown me the happiness that comes through living a Christ-like life. They haven't avoided the trials of life but through their faith they have overcome them and developed a stronger love of Christ, of each other and of us, my siblings and me. They have shown me how to overcome challenges, trials and temptations and come to know who Christ is. My friends even though some are not of my faith have supported me in my faith and those that are have shown me how to grow and learn in it. Through my family, friends and the scriptures I have learned who Jesus is and i have developed a desire to be more like Him. I love reading the New Testament because i feel the power of Christ's teachings as he taught in Jerusalem, and I love the Book of Mormon, another testament of Jesus Christ, because of Christ's dealings with the ancient Americans. I am a member of the LDS faith because I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God given to the ancient Americans and has been translated by the power of God for us.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by everyday seeking to improve myself to live a more Christ-like life. I try to develop and maintain a true love of God by living His commandments to the best of my ability, doing my best to love my neighbors as sincerely as I can in the ways that I know how and by seeking to turn to Christ with all my heart. I give as much time as I can to doing the Lords work here on earth. Living my faith really comes down to following Christ diligently, in love, faith, and hope. I'm human and have a long way to go, I keep putting one foot in front of the other every day knowing that Christ wants me to be more like Him and that he will help me to do so. I am living my faith by serving a mission and serving my fellow man.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Faith is a gift from God and that is where we need to turn to, to gain and increase our faith in Christ. We have to learn who Christ is to have faith in Him, and we learn of Him from the scriptures. We can learn about Him through His teachings and His dealings with His people. We also grow our faith through prayer, communicating with God, and through it we can feel His infinite love for us individually. We can know Christ but not have faith, faith grows as we live as closely as we can with Christ's life and that is where our faith will grow the fastest, as we try His words and promises for us.
