Hi I'm Linda

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Illinois. I am a single parent with 5 children and now a grandmother of nine grandkids.

About Me

With the Lord's help, I have survived my parent's divorce, death of my infant son and my own divorce. All I ever wanted was an eternal marriage and family. I teach high school speech, English and drama. I love serving the Lord's children by developing and sharing the talents He gave to me. I am responsible for the drama activities at my high school: the drama team, improv team and theatrical productions. Creativity is so energizing. Speaking of the most creative and talent artist, I love nature and the beautiful world God created. I enjoy walking, biking, camping - any activity that allows me to be in the great outdoors. I am the oldest of seven children. I am a daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. I love being a woman - a daughter of a loving heavenly father. My favorite activity is one-on-one time with a grandchild. We love time at the park or reading stories or singing songs or creating crafts or cooking my pumpkin muffins. It is so great to be alive in the wonderful world, loving and serving the Lord's amazing children.

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since I was young child, I have had faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ. The first experience that I can remember in exercising faith was when my parents were going through their divorce and I had to tell the judge which one I wanted to live with. When I came home from the hearing I asked my aunt to please say a prayer asking the Lord to help the judge make the right decision. My father was awarded custody of my sister and me which was a tender mercy of the Lord because we had the gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives and escaped an alcoholic environment. I was baptized as a child but have gained my testimony of the principles and doctrines as I have experienced life's challenges. The Lord has been in my life from the very beginning. He has protected, guided and blessed me especially as a single parent of five children. He has never let me down. I have always had what I needed, not necessarily what I wanted. He has had "my back"; He has a perfected "track record". I know that I can trust Him; He does not lie. He keeps His promises as I obey His commandments. As I have faced life's most difficult challenges, He has "carried me" as the "Footprints" poem indicates. I know Heavenly Father and Jesus lives and loves us. I know that they know us by name and minister unto to us, each individually. We are important to them and we have great value because we are the spirit children of Heavenly Father. We come to earth to receive a moral body and be tested to see if we will do all things that they have asked us. As we make mistakes, we can repent and be forgiven through the atonement of Jesus Christ. We can live again because Jesus overcame physical death with the resurrection. I know that we will be resurrected after we die, so we can live again with our family and friends as well the Lord. This amazing plan is called the Plan of Salvation or the Plan of Happiness. You can also know these things to be true if you pray wiith a sincere heart and with faith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the Savior's example. Of course His example is perfect; He overcame the world and conquered sin and death. I am so grateful for all that He has done for me, so I desire to express my love and gratitude through my obedience to His commandment. He said the greatest commandments is to love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself. The reason I get out of bed in morning is to serve the Lord and His children. No matter what my schedule is like each day, there are a myraid of opportunities to help someone. It may be as simple as letting someone go first or offering a smile or a listening ear. As I pray for opportunities to serve His children, wonderful events happen. At the high school where I work with teenagers, parents and staff, there is no lack of service opportunities. I love seeing the changes and successes of the youth as they learn, understand, grow and help others. My English students are asked to find someone in need and provide service that uplifts and makes a difference. The amazing result of service is it benefits the giver and the receiver. I love creating relationships with families and individuals in our congregation. My kids and grandkids live in the midwest. I miss them terribly, but fill that gap being an adopted grandmother to local families. I love being a part of birthdays and other celebrations. I have several families that I serve as a visiting teacher. We check on the family during the month and help fill any needs that they might have. I also enjoy helping in the community such as working at the soup kitchen, clean-up projects and special needs activities. I believe that there is nothing better than the satisfaction or "warm feeling in your heart" when you have offered the gift of caring to someone in need. There have been times in my life, when someone gave this priceless gift to me and my children. I will always treasure these tender mercies knowing that they are really from the Lord.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Blessings I have received from the Holy Ghost are comfort, peace, testimony, guidance and an assurance that Heavenly Father and Jesus exist. When my infant son died, the Holy Ghost gave me comfort, peace and the reassurance that he was alright. When I have prayed for answers, the Holy Ghost has given me inspiration and a feeling of peace and joy. As I try to follow the Savior, keep His commandments and serve His children, I feel the companionship of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
