Hi I'm Andy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Andy. I grew up in the west but have lived in the south for the past 15 years and absolutely love it. I am the father of five wonderful children and have a loving wife. We are busy keeping up with a middle school student, three elementary school student and a 2 year old. Our children are busy with volleyball, soccer, math team and numerous other enriching activities. We are blessed to have many good friends who watch out for us and are like an extended family to us. We enjoy family trips to see our family every other year, an annual trip to the mountains and trips to the beach with grandpa. I work for a local government in my community. I serve as a planner, oversee building and zoning departments as well as the unofficial IT guy. I enjoy my work and the ability to make a difference in my community. I live in a great community that is a wonderful place to run a family.

Why I am a Mormon

My ancestors on both my mom and dads side joined the Mormon church in the mid 1800s. My parents raised me and my brothers and sisters in the Mormon church. I am very appreciative to my parents for their willingness to teach me about Jesus Christ and the importance of living a good life. They taught me the importance of attending church and making good decisions. They were such a good example to me of how to live what you believe. They served for years in numerous church responsibilities and invited me at times to serve with them. However important all that I was taught made me who I am today, that is not why I continue to be a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I have studied the teachings of the church and found that the teachings are consistent with the scriptures. I have prayed to know whether what I have studied is true and know that God is mindful of us personally and will fulfill the promise found in James 1:5 "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally." I have felt the spirit testify to me that the gospel has been restored to the earth and that a prophet lives today who reveals Gods will to man.

How I live my faith

Because of all my parents taught me while I was young, I feel a great responsibility to do the same for my children. Each morning I look forward to the time we can send together as a family studying the scriptures prior to taking my children to school. It is a wonderful time to teach about the gospel of Jesus Christ and helps set the tone for the day. My responsibilities at church give me have given me the opportunities to work with the youth of the Mormon church from Hilton Head to Vidalia. I help plan activities for the youth that provides them opportunities to develop socially and spiritually. I have a great love for the youth and the way they face the trials of living in a world with declining standards. I have found it very rewarding to get to know them personally and to see how important living the high standards of the church brings them happiness. Living my faith is more than simply going to church. It is living each day as a disciple of Christ.
