Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church, and was taught how to follow Jesus Christ since I was little. I'm grateful for that. When I was little, I learned about God, Jesus Christ, and the love they have for me in sunday school and at home. Reading the scriptures, praying, and things like that were all simply a part of life. As I grew older, my understanding of those things has grown much deeper as well. As I've applied the teachings of the scriptures and the doctrine of the church to my own life, I've come to know that they are indeed true. As well as applying the teachings to my life, there was-and continues to be-a source of the firmness of my knowledge. That is the Book of Mormon. What I've come to understand is that every aspect of this Church can be traced back to whether that Book is true. If the Book of Mormon is true, then Joseph Smith was true to his claim to have translated it through the power of God--thus being a prophet. If Joseph Smith was a prophet, then that means that God the Father and Jesus Christ really appeared to him in 1820, and called him to restore Christ's Church. If that is true, then we know that Christ's is the only true church, and that He is the Son of God, like He said He was. I have come to know by reading in the Book of Mormon and much prayer that God is my loving Heavenly Father, and Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know, by the same method, that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true, and that the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and the words of modern day prophets are the words of God. That's why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I suppose to put it all in a nutshell, I live my life the best I can, while doing everything God asks me to do. One of those things He has asked of me is to serve a mission. Thats where I am now. I'm serving in Anaheim, California, spanish speaking (I spend a lot of time in Santa Ana). I've been here for over a year and I love it. Not only am I learning and changing myself, but I am helping others to change their lives as well. For these two years, my purpose is to invite as many people as I can to "come unto Christ", which means to teach them about His word and His teachings, and help them to take the step of baptism. To do that, I'll knock on doors, chase down people in the street, and whatever else it takes to get the message to them. So if you're in the Anaheim area, and haven't heard from me yet, just be patient. I'll get to you eventually. That's how I'm living my faith now. After my mission, I'll go to college, and build a career. I'll get married and start a family of my own. I'll continue to live my life and support my family as best I can, while doing everything He asks of me.
