Hi I'm Rick James

I Love the mountains. My passion is Snowboarding. I am a Mormon.

About Me

My first name is Rick, but for now i am Elder, I am currently serving as a missionary in the Texas San Antonio Mission and striving to help others to come unto Christ and receive the joy and happiness that the gospel has brought into my life. I love to do anything that involves a board, I Skateboard, Snowboard, Long board, and, I have never been but would love to go surfing. I love anything that will get my adrenaline going. I don't like to be indoors very much unless I am with my family or watching a good movie. I love music. It has played a very important role in my life and here on my mission. I play the Piano and the Guitar and sometimes I attempt to sing but that usually doesn't turn out right without a choir to back me up. I love pretty much any sport you can think of. My all time favorite thing to do is snowboard on a beautiful day at Park City with all of my friends with my favorite music and then going home to be with my family and relax. I have had a wonderful life so far and I'm looking forward to more! I have been able to compete and be successful in slopestyle competitions as a snowboarder and would like to pursue that dream after my mission. I have been to some amazing places including Peru, Mexico, the Caribbean, Jamaica, South Africa, and all over America. I love serving people and finding ways to help them! I speak spanish, and when i finish my mission i will be going to college to get a business degree.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be and I know that this is where I can reach my potential as a son of God. I have seen so many miracles and blessings in my life and I know without a doubt that those have come as a result of my choices and the way that the gospel has directed me. The church has been such a positive influence in my life from scouting, school, leadership skills, serving a mission, helping me to find good friendships, and especially in helping me to see the positive side of everything. It has provided me with answers to questions when I've had them, and continues to constantly be a comfort when i need it. It has taught me to serve and to be selfless, to help others in times of need. My parents mean so much to me and they have taught me well. I have been a member of the church since I can remember, however i know that the church is true for many other reasons. I have had to gain a testimony of the power and divinity of Jesus Christ and his gospel just as anyone has. I have had my doubts, and I have had my trials. I have seen in my life that I am happiest when living by the counsel given to me from Jesus Christ and my heavenly father, through the scriptures and through our modern-day prophets. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church in the world with that heavenly blessing. I know that God lives and that he loves each and every one of us. Each day my testimony of this aspect is improved and built upon as I see the effect he has had on my life and others. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, as is the Bible. They are amazing tools to help us to learn of our heavenly father and the plan that he has made for us, and the critical role that our Savior and brother Jesus Christ played in that plan. I know that families can be together forever, and that understanding how and why that is possible can only come when we come to know that this is the true church of God and that there is NO other way to complete happiness.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each and every day by serving others and striving to do what Christ would do. Right now as a missionary I have dedicated my life 24/7 for 2 years, to help all of God's children in any way possible. It just so happens that God's children are best helped when they are living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Which is the reason that I am here in Texas working every day to help anyone I can to receive that. I want all of God's children to be able to live with him eternally and have the eternal blessings of the gospel here on the earth. I strive my best to do this without being judgmental and I love the things that I learn and can improve on each day out in the Lord's vineyard. I love my family and strive to serve them and help them in any way possible. including my family here in the church. I love to see that the church is the same everywhere you go, whether in Texas or South Africa. I love to go home teaching with my dad, where we can find out the needs of specific families in our area to help them and to share gospel in their home.
