Hi I'm Jared Heywood

I have Grand aspirations in life that will make a difference in the world, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Well I would say that , "to keep this short" but I am never good at that. haha. My name is Jared and I have come to love the simple things in life. I have been through a lot, as everyone has, that has built me and made me the person that I am today. When I was four years old I was in a severe cooking accident and I was heavily burned with 3rd degree burns. It was a tragedy in my family and it was really hard on all of us. I really believe that in mortality this single event began to shape me to be a finisher. Ever since that event I have been able to look back and remember that God loves me and that I am here for a purpose. I don't always know what that is and sometimes I even lose sight of it. But I KNOW that I am here for a reason. I know that I can overcome the difficulties in life and that Heavenly Father will be there to help me. I am now "a young man of promise" and have a lot of interests and have been blessed with a love and talent for many different things. I feel so blessed and inspired in my vision for the future of my life. I am grateful that with God all things are possible and that I will be able to fulfill many of my dreams. Whether it be to be a photographer, business owner, doctor, a camping father, or hopefully all of them. Right now I am a student at BYU, Provo and just work to be the best that I can be; To be the one the Lord wants me to be.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. For a while I thought that I didnt want to be Mormon, in fact I thought I didnt want to be anything that had rules haha, but I have since realized that it is the only thing that makes me truly happy because I know that it is true and it is so much more than this life on Earth and I know that this is the way that God wants us to go because it is the only way that he can give us ALL of the blessings of heaven.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing MY Best!!! To me that means doing my best to follow the perfect example of Jesus Christ. Sometimes I fail at that and doing my best quickly becomes fixing the mistake as fast and best I can. Essentially I live my faith by utilizing the atonement of Jesus Christ and trying to help others find the same truths in their lives.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Jared Heywood
You can grow in your faith in Jesus Christ by taking steps of faith. Most specifically in doing things that show commitment such as keeping His commandments which includes baptism. I really have a strong testimony that keeping the commandments is the best way for us to grow in our faith. Just like in science or math you can theorize that something is going to be one way but then you have to experiment it to get the actual value. I know that Praying to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ for an increase of faith will lead you in the direction of keeping the other commandments and therefore an increase of faith as you see the promised blessings come to pass. Are Mormons Christians?

Jared Heywood
"Mormonism" as others call it should be defined as: Authentic Christianity. Really we are not mormons, we are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. This is THE Church of Christ. It has His Authority and it is called in His name. Jesus Christ taught us: "...if it be called in the name of a man then it be the church of a man; but if it be called upon my name then it is my church, if it also be that they are built upon my gospel" (3Nephi 27 :8). We are His church with His gospel, restored to be here on the Earth prepatory to His second coming. This is not just another church, but we solemnly proclaim that it is HIS church and that we have HIS teachings. The exact and perfect way that Jesus Christ did while he walked the Earth. How could we be anything but Christians with the proclamation that this is His Church? Show more Show less

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Jared Heywood
Families are the only endowed social units and are what God has given us to make us happy. Not only in this life but in the eternities. If they are what he has given us, His children, in this life to make us happy then there is much more import than what the average day bear would give credit. I know that families are meant to be Eternal and bring us closer to our Heavenly Father and that is why they are so important to us. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe concerning the doctrine of grace?

Jared Heywood
We all know that there is no other way than through Jesus Christ and the grace of God that we can be saved. But, we also know that God and His judgments are perfectly just. So, where does that leave us? The answer is simple and it is that after all that we can do we are saved by grace. We know that there is no way to work your way into heaven and that even if a man worked all of his life that he would not be worthy of such blessings if there was no grace. We know that there is one way. That way is Faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, repentance, Baptism for the remission of sins, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. As we do these things to the very best of our ability our loving Heavenly Father will allow the grace of Jesus Christ to make up for the rest. After all that we can do we are saved by grace.
