Hi I'm Melanie

I'm an Australian. I'm a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying nutrition as I have a love of food, I want to be healthy and balanced and I want others to feel good too. I love everything to do with music. I play clarinet, I'm learning the piano and musical theory and I sing, dance and listen to music of all types. Basically, I'm an energetic, highly motivated, extremely optimistic young adult who loves life and everything it has to offer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this faith and brought up with the gospel as a normal way of life but that is not why I am a Mormon. I decided fairly young that this is who I want to be and this where I need to be. There has been times when I have questioned my faith and received an undeniable witness from my Heavenly Father that it is true. My life has been far from perfect, things haven't always gone the way I wanted, but I have always felt love from Heavenly Father and my Saviour Jesus Christ and always received answers to my prayers. I know he is my sure rock and foundation upon which I can rely. The gospel makes me a better person and makes me want to be better than I am.

How I live my faith

The church gives me many opportunities to grow and serve others. I play piano for the women's group each Sunday. Even though I'm not a proficient pianist, I am motivated to practice and improve and these women are extremely supportive of my learning curve. I also visit with several women in my ward each month as part of a visiting teaching program. I love being able to meet with women, who I may never have met if not for this program and learning about the amazing people that they are. We regularly participate in community service projects including door knock appeals and clean up Australia day. Specifically, I have knitted trauma teddy's for the Red Cross, donated to items hygiene kits that have been transported as far away as the Solomon Islands during natural disasters, cleaned and did gardening for community organisations, made clothing and kits for homeless people and children of domestic violence and assisted in the cleanup of homes and public areas after the Floods in Queensland in January. Helping in the community reminds me of how many good people we have in the world who make a difference and want to improve our world for future generations. I try to live everyday the best I can using the example that Jesus Christ set for us. To be a better person and make the world a better place is all I really want out of life.
