Hi I'm Jolea Rogers

I am Australian, I´m a musician and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Jolea. I am 23 years old and currently studying Japanese translation at the University of Queensland. I returned home late 2013 from serving a mission in Nagoya Japan. My family consists of 6 boys and 3 girls, excluding Mum and Dad. I'm the oldest of my siblings. I am a black belt in taekwondo and recently started hapkido just for fun. I absolutely love the violin and have been playing since I was 8 years old. During my spare time I enjoy learning other instruments such as piano, guitar and saxophone or spending time with friends and family. Sport is something I enjoy too! Right now I am striving to master the Japanese language!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church as my grandparents joined, through the missionaries, before I was born. I gained a testimony at a very young age of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and know without a doubt that this is the Lord's true church. Why am I mormon? Because I know it's true, all of it. I know that we have a father in heaven who loves us and that we can communicate with him through prayer. I know, through personal experience, that he answers our prayers. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, called of God, just like Noah and Moses, prophets of old. I know that if I live the commandments and teachings found in the Book of Mormon, as well as the bible, that I can return to live with Heavenly Father once again. The Lord has restored his church to the Earth once more! I choose to be a mormon because the spirit has testified to me that this is true.

How I live my faith

My faith is a big and normal part of my life. It's not something I just do on Sundays or at certain times throughout each day, it's a way of life. A way of life that brings much peace, joy and happiness. It effects the way I interact with others, for I have come to know with all my heart that each individual is a unique and special child of our Heavenly Father. I know the worth of each soul is great in the sight of God. My knowledge of Jesus Christ and the great atoning sacrifice he made for us causes me to always want to repent and strive daily to become a better person. I want to give my heart to my God for he has given me everything and my own will is the one thing I can really give back to him. My faith causes me to love my family more and cherrish them, for I know that the family is ordained of God and that I will be with them, not just in this life, but in the life to come. Knowing that this life is a test, a test to see if we will follow Christ and keep his commandments causes me to look beyond the temporal things and to see the things that really matter. Money and material possesions won't come with us beyond the grave but the things we have learned, the souls we made a difference to, the person we have become, these things matter.
