Hi I'm Nathan

I am a husband, father, play the saxophone and love being outdoors. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I grew up by the ocean and love being at the beach. I love the peace and serenity that the ocean brings as it is a place to contemplate. I grew up in a wealthy town but we struggled as a family to make it in our tiny apartment. I picked up playing the saxophone in fourth grade and due to self discipline stuck with it through college. Music helped me to find stability in my life and helped me to stay on a correct path through the trying times of adolescence. I studied Psychology at Brigham Young University as my plan was to continue & become a counselor to help people through their many problems that this life brings. Another reason I chose to study psychology was seeing all of the emotional struggles my parents dealt with including a divorce. The struggles that families go through can change our lives positive or negatively and I wanted to help families work through their struggles to come out positive on the other side. I met my wife at a dance where we hit it off and dated appropriately for about eight months before we were married. After college I diverted my path and sold insurance with my father-n-law with the pull towards making a lot of money. When that did not work out due to the economy in 2008 I received confirmation through prayer to take a job that meant a lot of sacrifice for our family. On faith we moved to Washington to live with my sister and take a part time job with the hope that something would come of this. As I stepped into the dark the Lord blessed me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am mormon because I choose to be. I had the privilege of growing up in the church and enjoyed the comforts of learning about the church. It was a way of life that I was born into and enjoyed. I never questioned our faith and enjoyed the programs the church provided for the youth. As a young man I chose to go on a mission for our church. I had the opportunity to serve in Cleveland Ohio for two years. During this time frame my testimony of the gospel grew exponentially that I realized looking back that I new this church was true due to the spiritual experiences I had growing up and continuing on through my mission. My confirmations of the truthfulness of the church came from strong promptings from the Holy Ghost as I knelt down in prayer asking in faith for answers to questions I had. I gained a strong testimony in regards to Joseph Smith as I had the opportunity to live in Kirtland Ohio where he lived for a while. I was able to teach a discussion in a room where he taught other members and saw Jesus Christ in this same room in the Newel K. Whitney store. The spirit that was in that room was so strong testifying of the truthfulness of the prophet Joseph Smith. I am a mormon because I know this church is true as I have knelt in prayer and asked my Father in Heaven for confirmation of the truthfulness of this gospel. I received that answer and will never deny it. I am blessed daily for being a member of this church as it is the greatest blessing in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by living the simple truths of the gospel. I read my scriptures daily, pray through out the day, have family prayers, spend time with my family and strive to live a little better each and every day. I am truly grateful for the atonement of Jesus Christ which allows me the opportunity to repent for the mistakes I make. As I am not perfect I take the opportunity to ask my Father in Heaven for forgiveness through the gift of the atonement which our Savior freely gave. This is a very important part of my life as it gives me strength that I can improve each and every day growing closer to becoming like my father in heaven. I take the time to serve in callings that I receive at church. I have had a broad range of callings that have taught me many things. Every time I get comfortable in a calling the lord realizes that I need to be stretched and puts me out of my comfort zone. This provides me the opportunity to pray and ask for help in serving in his kingdom as I cannot do it alone. I currently have the opportunity to serve as a local missionary and love being able to talk to people about our church and sharing the blessings I have received in my life. I love serving in the church because I have the ability to see individuals lives change for the better.
