Hi I'm Syrene

I'm a mom. I'm a published author. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom to four rowdy cowboys and a special needs daughter. I manage severe seizures on a regular basis. I am a wife to a wonderful husband. I am a public affairs assistant director and a dental researcher. I enjoy riding horses and snow skiing with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the church and its teachings are true. I know that following the commandments of God is the way to true eternal happiness. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only church that enables my family to be together forever. This brings me great comfort. When my daughter, our third child, was almost 9 months old we found her laying in her crib limp and unresponsive. While I was holding her she began to shake. This was the first of her many seizures. She was paralyzed on her left side and had to relearn how to sit-up and crawl. At five years old, she has an undiagnosed seizure disorder, does not communicate very well and still has weakness on her left-side. She has tonic clonic seizures on a monthly basis that last a few minutes to hours. Experiences my husband and I have had with my daughter have strengthened my knowledge that our family will be together forever and that the Lord knows me, my daughter and all of my family members on an individual basis. I know the peace and succor that comes through prayer because I have spent many nights sitting in the ICU with my daughter hooked up to monitors and been comforted to know that she would be ok and that I would be able to meet the needs of my family. I know that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. I know that when I read the scriptures, the Lord strengthens me with patience, love, compassion and service. I am a better mom and wife when I study the scriptures.

How I live my faith

I am the Public Affairs Assistant Director for my church. I am able to use my Public Relations education to write press releases about newsworthy events that happen in our area. I have been able to share experiences that the youth of our church have had in re-enacting a pioneer trek, as well as highlight a couple in our church that had a combined 100 years of service in The Boy Scouts of America. I enjoy sharing with the media how members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints live their faith on a daily basis. I also live my faith every day as a wife and a stay-at-home mom of 5 kids. I strive to teach my kids honesty, faith and to choose the right. Our family reads the scriptures and prays together every night. We are reading the New Testament right now and learning about Jesus and the ministry of the Twelve Apostles. We teach our kids to say their own personal prayers too.
