Hi I'm Judy

I grew up moving around the United States. The two constants were my family and my church. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Judy and I'm a Mormon. I love learning, nature, puzzles, and grandkids! I love to learn by reading, attending classes, talking to people, and travel. I love to experience nature up close and personal by hiking, camping, or just sitting on a rock. I love the challenge of solving puzzles of all sorts--jig saw, ciphers, number puzzles, etc. And grandkids are best loved with lots of time and big hugs!

Why I am a Mormon

The way I figure it is either Ultimate Truth (God) exists or it doesn't. I have had enough spiritual experiences that I am convinced that it does exist. So therefore, my desire is to discover what "it" is, not decide what I think "it" ought to be--if "it" truly exists, "it" is what "it" is, independent of what I or anyone else may think about the matter. I love the emphasis on fostering a personal relationship with a personal God--we each are known and loved by God. I love the truth that we are indeed the spiritual offspring of heavenly parents, and that we are all brothers and sisters with the same eternal potential. I love the emphasis on families, as the basic unit both of society and the church. I love the emphasis on growth and development--like "be patient with me, I'm still under construction." And I'm so thankful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ which allows me to not only learn from my mistakes and experiences, but clean them up afterwards.

How I live my faith

I love people and find it most interesting to talk to recent immigrants. For the last five years, I've had the pleasure of being an ESL partner to three different immigrants--one from Columbia, one from South Korea, and one from Iran. I think I've learned as much from them as they have from me. I also love to teach--children, youth, adults--I've enjoyed all ages and again I have learned a lot from them. However, when I get to teach high school students every school day, that is my favorite! Their enthusiasm and willingness to get up early each morning is inspiring!
