Hi I'm Jamie

I am an Anthropology major. I love to read and learn. I'm a Mormon

About Me

My family is my greatest source of joy and I am glad to be able to call my sisters, brothers, and parents my best friends. My dad is my hero and I hope one day I can meet someone who will treat me the way he treats my mom. I am currently attending Idaho State University where I am majoring in Anthropology. I have a Yorkie named Tyrion and she is the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both active members of the church, so I was raised with the gospel. This has been a tremendous blessing to me, but it doesn't mean that I don't have my own conversion story. I think it's easy for people who have known the gospel all their lives to take it for granted. A true testimony isn't something that is taught. It's something a person must want and seek out for themselves. No two stories are the same, yet we all share the peace and joy the gospel gives us. Certain events in our lives will cause us to either turn away from God, or take comfort in His love. I am so grateful for the knowledge this church offers and the love, strength, and support it provides. I'm glad to have a personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and a firm belief in the power of the Atonement. I love that we have living prophets of God who know the struggles of our day and who give us direction that we so greatly need. I know that true, lasting happiness comes from doing what is right and following the commandments. I know that my Heavenly Father knows who I am and He is aware of all that I've gone through. I have a testimony that because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I don't have to go through any trial on my own. My Savior has already suffered so I don't have to take my burdens on alone. I know that families are forever if they keep their covenants made in the holy temple. I know that I am a daughter of God and he loves me.

How I live my faith

In my purse, I carry around a Book of Mormon and a copy of the most recent Ensign: Conference Address (advice and guidance given by our prophet and apostles.) Having the words of both ancient and modern prophets close by helps keep me in harmony with the promptings of the Holy Ghost. Continuously reading talks from the prophets and apostles help me keep a hopeful outlook on my life and situation. They know the troubles and struggles that we are faced with as members and non-members alike. One doesn't have to be Mormon to see the love and compassion put into the words of caution and guidance that come from these men. I also enjoy the opportunity to pay tithing. The church asks that its members pay 10% of their income to help build temples and churches. To me, this is such an honor and a privilege. I love giving back to a church that has done so much for me.
