Hi I'm Robert Clifton

I'm Canadian. I love to garden and read about the world around me. Hiking is one of my hobbies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When I was a kid I took up a stick and started traveling the "unexplored world" that was my small family farm. I loved to be on an adventure and still do. As I grew up the gradual reality that I was not in a fantastical world with heroes and quests and special abilities I felt stifled my imagination. That was until I learned to learn, and love it. As I learned to read about the world around me I realized just how big the world really is. There are heroes and villains, a purpose in life and we each have unique gifts to accomplish that purpose. I am currently a missionary, teaching people about my heroes and the stories that accompany them. I plan to go to university and begin adventuring again with broader horizons.

Why I am a Mormon

While in the height of my learning about the world around me I started noticing what seemed to me two different explanations as to what our purpose is. One held that God was our Creator, Father and friend. The other attempted to show that we had no purpose and that we just "were". I questioned and wondered how can that be? I grew up a Latter-Day Saint (Mormon) but even then I had to know for myself that what I had been taught was true. I took up my hypothesis, that God was real and he called prophets and through Christ I could live with God again. I then tested my hypothesis by reading the Book of Mormon and asking God if it was true. I received an answer though at first I struggled to realize what it was. It was a feeling of rightness, of truth. I have resolved to continue with this answer and I re-realize it each time I look at God's proofs-The witness of his Holy Ghost. God is the ultimate scientist.i

How I live my faith

I believe in God. I believe in learning. I believe that through action on my part (study, good works, prayer) I can understand God more. I am currently a missionary in Texas. There are many fellow Christians here who I help by bringing them more of what Christ wants us to have. I share the Book of Mormon and how reading it sincerely and asking God if it's true, we can know enough to believe.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Robert Clifton
While we are not penalized for not serving missions it is "strongly encouraged" as it moves the Lords work and provides strength to those who serve. Serving a mission amongst the people of Texas has really strengthened my testimony and has helped pthers come unto Christ. Those who forgoe missionary service don't know what they are missing. What are Mormon Temples used for?

Robert Clifton
The Temple is a holy place where covenants are made to prepare us for eternal life with Christ. While they may apear gorgeous is structure and steep in cost, it is not their beauty or expense that make them holy but rather the work of the priesthood that administers those covenants that sets our temples apart from other buildings. We must be prepared spiritually and mentally before entering the Temple and so only members of good standing are allowed in. Everyone is more than welcome to visit the grounds and gardens of our Temples and before each Temple is dedicated, an open house for the public is provided temporarally. Come to the temple grounds and open houses. Our missionaries would love to show you around. Show more Show less
