Hi I'm Nathan

I am a missionary for the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. i love books, sports and games of all kinds. I am a mormon.

About Me

Being a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints is a very unique experience that i have had in my life. just like me you have probably walked by or talked to hundres of mormons in your life and not known it. being a member does not change the way that i have looked or spoken in my life but it has changed the way that i have acted. I have a mother and father that i love and hold very dear to me that have talght me things that let me know the difference between being a man and being a good man. I have not gone to collage yet but i have studied harder in the past three years than i have in all of my years of life and school previous because i have studied about god. I understand his plan for me and for my family because every day i have studied even just a little of God's word. i love to play games of all kinds and yet i know when i am to be serious because i have learned to think on a different plane of thought that comes from an understanding of the love that god has toward me and all of those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though i was raised in the church i was not really converted untill i was old enough to know and understand the difference between right and wrong, and then ack on it. i knew the difference at the age of 8 but i don't really think that i understood it well enough untill i was 16. All of my life i had been taught and nurtured in a loveing home that believed in christ as the son of god. Yet as with every person I deeply desired to know, for myself, the truth of things. i had been taught to read and pray about the scriptures for both a greater understanding of them and to always seek to apply the principle's in my life, and yet i had previously, before the age of 16, not done it for my self but rather because others asked me to. At 16 i had wanted to know if all that i had been learning was true and the verce came into my head in the bible that say's "ask and ye shall find" that is a promise from Christ himself, not simply just a statement. Through many prayers over a short period of time I came to know beyond all doubt that all my life my parents had taught me truth and that God had placed me where i was at to learn and grow up unto him. there is no doubt in my mind that prayer is essential in not only learning about God but in also for developing a continually growing relationship with him on our part. He already knows about us but we can't come to know and love him without speaking to him often. And that is why i am a mormon. Because i have learned and studied and asked questions and prayed. And throughout it all God has placed daily answers in my path to continually teach me both in my mind and in my heart about him and his son Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

If you do anything with your heart in it and work to have a love for that thing, then you will gain an deep love for it and it will be a joy to you all the day's of you life. I have been particapating in many things like sports and many other social activities ot gain and develope my friendships that i have. But even with my friendships that i have i think the biggest way that i live my faith is by my daily example and effort that i consciously put forth. it is by living my faith every day and the faith that i display that makes me anything like what i am. it is not easy and sometimes i have slipped and messed up but when you learn about and come to, at least in part, understand the sacrafice of Christ and his atonement for everyone and for each of us as individuals, then you can have the streangth to stand up from anything. The way for anyone to live their faith is best shown by their example and that is best shown not by the words that they say but by the things that they do. And that is the thing that i strive every day to remember and to apply into my life. That I need to live what i believe not just say what i beleive.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Nathan
Just as we need a doctor when we are hurt or a teacher to learn we need a savior to save us from the effects of our sins. When some one breaks the law like by speeding in a school zone and they get caught then they get a ticket, and it is the same thing with our sins and mistakes. God knows what we are doing at all times and wants us to do what is right but when we sin then, just like reciving that ticket, we would have to pay the price for our sins. Christ acted in our behalf in paying the price for us that we would never fully be able to understand nor pay off our selves. All he asks in return is for us to have faith in him by repenting of our sins and being baptized by correct authority for the remission of sins in order to recive the gift of the holy ghost. After that is done then we must endure to the end in rightousness, for every day will be a constant effort but that constant effort is one of the few ways in this life that we can try to pay back him for what he has done for us. Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Nathan
yes it is true that christ came to the america's and taught and ministered here after his crusifiction and resurection. The Book of Mormon is not only the account of this but is also it's own evidence of it. Through prayer and searching I have come to know from our heavenly father that it is not just a possibility but that it is true and that it can bless the world by giving the world a second wittness of the living reality of Jesus Christ and his love for all mankind. Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Nathan
Absolutly not. we believe that it is really importany to help everyone. Christ himself taught us to do the things that we see him do, and all through out the scriptures he helped everyone that asked for help not just his deciples. At the moment I am a mormon missionary and our calling to go on a mission is a call to serve. Who? EVERYONE. Mormons are normaly among the first to appear at the disaster scene. There are like examples everytime there is a natural disaster that we are able to reach. And quite often after it is done, people that know we helped, have thanked the church of jesus christ of latter-day saints, or the mormons as somepeople call us. our nick name or mormons we don't hide but rather hold it there for people to see because they recognize that more than the church's actual name. what we also want them to recognize is that the church does NOT only help it's members. we offer help to the world. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Nathan
Within the scriptures both old and new are held many accounts of people praying to know the truth of something for themselve or to ask a question, and i beleive that the same can be done today. That through the prayer of faith and sincerity that one can know. And it should not just be us asking a question to a person that we bearly talk to or know, but rather, i believe, that we should approach it as we would as us the child and him( being God) the father and in humility ask him for what we need or if we have a question with faith that we will recieve an answer, with sincerity that we really want to know for our selves, and with a willingness to accept his answer when we recognize it. I know that God is a God of truth and love and that you can know the truth of all things through the power holy ghost (Moroni 10:4-5), if you have faith and trust in him. Show more Show less

In whom should we have faith?

Nathan
with in the scriptures is held the account of christ saying " I am the way the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the father but by me" John 14:6 and that is what I believe with all my heart. I believe that there is no way to heaven than to have faith on the lord jesus christ and to do as he has comanded all mankind to.Faith it self is also demonstrated through our actions and our expresions of love toward others. what better way to prove our faith by living as christ has told us to live. it may be hard but faith in christ, to me, means to act in such a way that i can honestly say i am a deciple of jesus christ because i am living the way that he has comanded me to live. Why is family so important to Mormons?

Nathan
While growing up I have found that there is no greater feeling of happyness or joy that can be found than that which can be found in the home. My family has given me a name and provided me with an identity that has been shaped with love and kindness. I believe that the family unit is one of the purposes of life and is meant to last for time and all eternity. It would make sence that something so important that would be from God. Some situations that a person is raised in, while in the family, may be difficult while growing up, but I am certian that what God has given us is for our benifit and learning. In my opinion there is no greater thing that I have in this life than the wonderfull family that God has placed me in, and that is the way that it should be. Show more Show less
