Hi I'm Jim

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am now retired. During my work life I spent ten years as an army offficer, 29 as a faculty member and eleven years as a University administrator.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a fifth generation member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. When we met my wife was not a member. The best time of my life was her conversion to the Church. I have loved to see Christ-like behavior and sensibilities in her life and in those of our children and grandchildren. I try to be the kind of person the Savior wants me to be, and I stay close to Him by studying the scriptures, serving others and through prayer. I feel my life has been blessed by my membership in the church.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by reaching out to people of other countries and faiths, so that they may know there is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who cares about them. We have been fortunate enough to live in three countries other than the US. Living among people of other cultures and religlions has increased our testimony that God our Father cares for and blesses all of his children.

What is the difference between attending church and the temple?

Attending church is my way of joining with followers of Christ. There we share scriptures and spiritual experiences, renew our covenants (promises) that we will remember Jesus Christ -- our Savior and Redeemer. The Temple is a place where individuals make promises to God the Father through His son -- promises of eternal consequence. We learn about the Plan of Salvation, God's plan for His children, that we may be with Him and with our righteous families forever. Show more Show less
