Hi I'm Devon

I'm a Canadian! I Love the Gospel. I'm a Missionary in Texas. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a middle child in a family of 5. So apparently I was the rotten one, Right? I think I was the Best one though. Matter of opinion I suppose. I am a avid Film-maker/Writer. I love making films with friends, we had recently made a review show. In which we parody the films we rate. I also have started writing two novels, which are no where near done. Ones a Sci-Fi about a Post-Apocalyptic world where humans are crazy smart. Another one is just a romantic comedy about a clutz of a guy who somehow finds love in his busy lifestyle. I also enjoy playing video games, mainly for their stories because they're always EPIC. I love snowboarding and hiking mountains. The Outdoors are great, I love the feeling I get when i climbed a mountain. Except when my fear of heights overtakes me, then I don't like it so much... So thats pretty much me.

Why I am a Mormon

Well, thats a very good question. The reason why I am a mormon is a bit of a longer story then i usually have time to tell. It is kinda like a series of events that occurred in my life that led me to believe in this. I was raised in the Church, but I never really accepted much of it. I was kinda a rebel, I thought it was cool to just rebel. I didn't accept Jesus as my Savior, nor anything else. In a sense I was a Agnostic, but I would go to church when my parents forced me. I moved away from home a few years ago, where I had the oppourtunity to make my own decisions. I really didn't make the right ones. My Father came to visit me and fix my car. He was at my apartment for a few days. He would read the scriptures each morning. Those things that I had neglected for my youth. Once he left, I picked up the scriptures on the nightstand to put them away. But the spirit prompted me to read the page. It was in the Book of Mormon, in the Book of Helaman. Samuel the Prophet wrote how it was up to us to make choices, and how God has given us a knowledge to make the right ones. I realized then that I had been making the wrong choices. So I got the desire to find out if the Book of Mormon was true, and if Jesus was real. I kinda went about my reading like a pessimist. When something clicked in my head and made sense as I read, I quickly rationalized what had been said. I often said in my head after a particular spiritual reading that it couldn't be true. My mother told me what she wanted me to get from her raising me. She said she just wanted me to know that my Heavenly Father loved me. I made the effort to find out if that was true. I prayed many nights to find out if there even was a God. After I finish reading one night, i got down on my knees and asked God if he was there and if he loved me. I felt a warm assuance that he did. Since that moment my testimony has grown alot and it continues to grow the more I study.

How I live my faith

As a Missionary of the Church, I get to go out everyday and testify of Jesus Christ. I get to testify that Joseph Smith was the Prophet God called to restore his church on earth. I get to see the joy that the Gospel brings into peoples lives as they learn and accept the Fulness that Christ has for them. I get to study the scriptures daily and pray for help and support in my missionary service. I get to serve people by raking up leaves or helping them move without seeking anything in return. I also live my faith by trying my hardest to be like Jesus and strive to follow his great admonition to "be ye therefore Perfect." It's hard, but I know Christ can help me with my weaknesses. I get to live my faith by making this little profile, So that others can hear my testimony, online! Isn't Technology COOL!
