Hi I'm Leslie

I grew up in southern California. I used to drive a semi over the road with my husband for ten years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of five. I have one brother and one sister. I am retired, I have been employed in various occupations, such as truckdriver, dispatcher, waitress, carhop, sales clerk. I enjoy being with my family, I was married to my first husband for 45½ years, before he passed away. We have four children, three daughters and a son. We have six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. I very much like doing family history research, working in the yard, crafts, sewing, and camping. Four years ago I married a man who is retired Army and member of the church.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church forty-seven years ago, in Phoenix, Az. I became aquainted with a young man from the church and he gave me my first book of Mormon. I was impressed with what the young man had to say about the church and the way that he conducted himself, at the same time when my husband was on the road he met two missionaries and was very taken by the idea of being able to have his family in the eternity. I have seen many changes in the church as far as organization goes, but the gospel always stays the same. I did not come from a family that went to church, so I did not come into the church with very much knowledge of the gospel. After all this time it never ceases to amaze me, that no matter what your circumstances might be, we are all sons and daughters of a loving Heavenly Father. That he and his son Jesus Christ are right there for us, wishing the best for us, wanting us to be loving mothers and fathers to our children. If I learn nothing else from being a member of this church, it is that I am loved by my Father in heaven.

How I live my faith

One of my callings in the church is what they call a Family History Consultant, I help members and non-members alike research their family history. My husband and I have several members of the church that we are assigned to visit every month in their home. We visit these members to make sure that if they are in need of help, that we can help them. Sometimes all they may need is someone to talk to, other times perhaps they have some jobs around the house that they can't handle by themselves, so we pitch in and get the job done. There are times when one of our members need to have transportation to their Dr; what ever the reason we want all members and non-members to know that we love them, as we are all brothers and sisters. Another one of my callings is that I work in the nursery for children 18 months to 3 years old, one Sunday a month, while their parents are in their classes. I also prepare the church bulletin for Sunday so our members know who is speaking in church that day, what hymns we will be singing and any announcements of coming events.
