Hi I'm Jim

I'm a retired airline pilot and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Althought I grew up in Utah, it wasn't until I was in college in Bakersfield, California, that I joined the Church. After graduating from BYU, my life has been all about aviation. I flew in the United States Air Force and for a major airline. Although I am retired, flying is still a big part of my life. My wife and I served a mission in London, England, helping people find their ancestors. It was difficult to leave our grandchildren and children, but it was well worth it!

Why I am a Mormon

It's all about testimony reading the Book of Mormon, and listening to the promptings of the Holy Ghost. I joined when I was 18, and although that was long ago, I still remember and cherish the powerful yet soft and tender testimony I received, while on my knees, from Holy Ghost. The Book of Mormon is truly the word of the Lord. It's inspired teachings explain the Gospel in clear and simple words.

How I live my faith

Just as I need to eat to stay nourished each day, I need spiritual nourishment on a daily basis too. I love daily scripture study. Personal and family prayer are essential to my life. I have served in the Church since I was 18. I love the Lord and want to help in any way that I can. I have served in many Church leadership positions and I've also been responsible for small but important things, like a monthly newsletter. To me, anything that I can do to help is precious and ncecessary in our Father-in-Heaven's kingdom. In addition to a "calling", I visit my assigned families and discuss a brief topic each month. I also serve in my countys sheriff's air posse.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Jim
One of the greatest reasons for being here on earth is to "have joy" 2 Nephi 225. Personal prayer, scripture study, and attending church helps us better understand that the best way to find joy and happiness in this life is to know about Our Heavenly Father's plan of happiness, the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to strive to keep God's "law" Proverbs 2918. Families are an essential part of God's Plan and much of how we live focuses on our families. We want to share the happiness we enjoy with everyone we can through service, missionary work, and contributing to society. Show more Show less
