Hi I'm Jeff

I'm from Nebraska. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work in a chromatography research lab. My hobbies are fishing, music (playing and listening to), and sports (playing and watching). I'm a huge Husker fan. I'm married to my best friend and we enjoy going to the zoo, doing things outside, and really just spending time together.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined this church a few years before I was born. I continue to go to church though, because I know for myself that it contains the full gospel of Jesus Christ and the necessary authority and ordinances that will allow me to live with my family forever and become the best person I can be. My path to gaining a personal witness that this church is true is much like many other members. I have read and studied both the Bible and the Book of Mormon and have prayed to ask God if they were indeed to true. I was able recieve an answer to that prayer. The feeling and impression in my mind that I had when praying is difficult to explain, but much like the "good" feeling one gets from helping others, I to recieved a very real, spiritual feeling that came to both my mind and heart that let me know this church is true. The best thing is that I have been able to have numerous such witnesses since that have led me to have little doubt in the validity of the teachings contained in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in many of the simple decisions I make each day. The scriptures teach that we should love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves. Simply getting along with co-workers and being kind to those I meet are aspects of living according to my faith. Serving others and being honest with my employers and those I come in contact are all part of living my faith.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

The best way to know if this or any other church is truly God's church is to ask Him directly. I am so glad that I grew up in a household that prayed. I knew at a young age that I could talk to my Father in Heaven and that He not only knew who I was and heard my prayers, but that He actually cared enough for me to answer my prayers. In James 1:5 the pattern for praying for truth is layed out. We must ask with sincerity and faith. That means that we need to first believe that God exists and that He has the power to answer our prayers. This faith can be gained by studying the words of our Heavenly Father in the scriptures and by the act of praying to Him and seeing our prayers answered. To ask with a sincere heart means that we are willing to not only find the truth, but to follow the truth. Most commonly, the answers come in the form of spiritual impressions from the Holy Ghost felt in both the heart and the mind. Many people have a hard time understanding what it is they are feeling and understanding if the feeling is real or simply made up in their mind. If you have ever done something nice for someone else, you know what it is like to have a "good" feeling. That feeling may be hard to describe, but you know when you feel it. Similarly the Holy Ghost generally communicates by a "good" feeling of peace, comfort, warmth, and truth. These feelings from our Heavenly Father are how I know this Church is true and you can too.
