Hi I'm Scott

I'm a Mormon and can tell you what a huge difference it's made in my life! I wouldn't be the same person without this knowledge.

About Me

I'm a prototypical "Dad", with a wonderful wife and three beautiful daughters. My wife and I recently adopted our third daughter from China. What an experience this has been! She is a wonderful addition to our family. We live in Utah, but have also lived in Canada and in South Korea. We have both attended graduate school (MBA and MPH). We love to hike, bike, play tennis and spend time together as a family. Music is a huge part of our lives and we constantly have piano and violin music in our home.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon for many reasons, but mostly because it gives me an eternal perspective on life-- I know that I have a purpose in being here and I know through the church what the long-term plan is for me and my family if we follow Jesus Christ's teachings and example. The church brings us so much happiness and my life would be lacking so much without it. The church and the Savior's teachings provide extensive insight to life; I have answers to my questions and have a greater understanding because of the things I have learned to be true. I am grateful for all that I have been given in life and encourage everyone to study these things to find out for themselves that there is greater light and understanding in this church and by following Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Currently I work with young men in my neighborhood who are college age and who are making important decisions in their lives-- where to go to school, what to do for a living, who to marry, and all of those decisions that direct the rest of our lives. It is fulfilling because I get to help direct them and provide advice and support. It is fun to see them make good decisions and choose those things that will bring the most happiness to their lives in the long run, not the temporary "party" lifestyle many college-aged men and women choose that really gets them nowhere.

Where did Mormonism and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begin?

Scott
You'll notice "Latter-Day Saints" in the official title of the Church. This is in reference to those following Jesus Christ's teachings his Church in the last days, as opposed to those following him in the Old and New Testament time periods. We believe that the Church today is the same church that was on the earth when Christ organized it personally. Study the Bible carefully and you'll notice that he did some specific things to organize His Church-- he called and ordained twelve apostles, chose prophets, was baptized by immersion, commanded His people to build temples and to pay tithing. These are all things found in his true Church on the earth today. Mormonism is simply another name for his established Church in the last days. It is organized exactly the way it was in Old and New Testament times. Joseph Smith was selected by God to work as a prophet in these last days to re-establish his Church on the Earth.
