Hi I'm Kristen

I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Kristen and I recently just finished my fourth year of college. I received a Bachelor's of Science degree in exercise science. Exercise is my passion. I received a scholarship to participate on my school's track and field team as a division I NCAA athlete. It was the best experience I could ever hope for. I am also a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My church is also my passion. I love learning new things about the gospel. The more I learn, the more I want to learn. I want everyone to know about this wonderful church that I belong to. Which is why I have decided to serve a full time mission and I have been called to serve in the San Jose, California Spanish speaking mission. I cannot wait to share the gospel as a full time job!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a family that taught the principles and standards of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. My parents taught me these standards and principles through their example of daily living. They never forced doctrine on me, but they were always willing to answer my questions and concerns about the church. Growing up, I relied a lot on their faith and belief in the church. Once I graduated High School and moved out of the house to go to college, I wasn't as sure about the teachings of the church. I still kept the habit of going to church, but I didn't have a firm belief in it. After over a year of "going through the motions" of a typical Mormon girl, I decided to find out for myself what I believed in. I started paying more attention to the lessons taught in church, saying meaningful prayers morning and night, and reading my scriptures on a daily basis. I prayed to find out whether or not the Book of Mormon was true and if the Church was worth putting forth all the effort. After I prayed, I felt in my heart that I didn't need to be asking that question because I already knew the answer. That answer was that I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the one true church on this earth, with a loving living prophet. The church brings us closer to Heaven and provides the only way that we will be able to live with God again.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by reading my scriptures and saying my prayers on a daily basis, paying tithes and offerings to the church and attending every possible church activity. I also pay home visits to a few girls at my church about once a month to make sure everything in their life is going well. If they need help or assistance, I want to be aware of their needs. I also teach a Sunday school lesson to "new members" about once or twice a month. I don't always feel qualified to teach Sunday school lessons but I am grateful for the opportunity it gives me to learn more about the gospel.
