Hi I'm Matt

I was born and raised in Southern California, and I've worked as an aerospace engineer since 1993. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and also attended grad school to obtain an M.S. and M.B.A. While education was fine and all and has helped and still helps with my career, I'm most at home when I'm...at home...with my family. I have 4 children (2 of each type) and a great wife. Most of my "free" time is spent coaching or attending my children's sporting events, ranging from swim meets to baseball and basketball to dance recitals. (Although I was not allowed to coach dance, thankfully). My girls have been in girls scouts and my boys in cub/boy scouts. I enjoy the outdoors, especially mountain climbing. Before moving from CA, I had the goal of summitting all 15 fourteeners, but only had time to complete 4. Since moving to CO, I've climbed another 4, but it will take awhile with many of my weekends already occupied with kids games and meets. I grew up as an Angels and Lakers fan and am even more so a BYU fan. I like most sports that involve more than walking around or sitting. I've worked in the aerospace industry since I graduated and most of that time has been spent launching rockets. It's not like it's rocket science....

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born into a family that raised me in the LDS church, I've grown to know for myself that our Savior Jesus Christ is at the head and leads this church. There is no doubt about it, and the fact that anyone can determine this for themselves is amazing. I have studied church history and read both the Bible and Book of Mormon several times and can honestly say that the words and teachings in these books compelement each other it is apparent that the same God is the inpiration for both.

How I live my faith

I lived in Mexico City for 2 years serving a full-time mission where I met many great people. That has brought a perspective to my life that we are all God's children irrespective of articifical political borders and cultures. Currently, my focus is on my own family, but I also have had the opportunity to work in scouting many years and also work with church members to ensure that the gospel is a priority in their lives and understand ways to assist in any way.
