Hi I'm Jared

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing sports. LOVE IT! When I reached high school I had friends that were going to play volleyball so I tried out and made it. I also wanted to play basketball. I took the freshman basketball camp and after they taught me how to shoot, I didn't have my two handed forward spin shot, I was actually a good shooter. I love to surf, ski, snowboard, snowmobile and a lot more. I fell in love with Photography after high school and fortunately I found my wife, who also has the photography bug. I graduated from College in Communications with a minor and associates in Business Management. I've worked for General Motors in event management, the BYU Athletic Department in event marketing and now with a communication company as graphic designer and project manager. My wife and I also have a photography company, Silverstrand Photography, that we enjoy very much. It allows us to share our talents with others. We have two little girls and a baby boy. They bring so much joy to our lives!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I have two wonderful parents and I grew up in a great family. My parents have been members of the church for a long time. My dad was less active up until my mom started meeting with the missionaries, since then they have both been strong in the church. They are amazing examples to me and how I want to be as a parent. I always felt good around the church and it's activities. But it wasn't until just before serving my mission that I knew that this was the true church. I was praying and thinking one day about what my feelings were and I felt the spirit so strong. From that day on, I have had no doubt that my life is better when I follow the teachings of the gospel and scriptures. My family makes me want to be better each day. They love and support me and knowing that we will have the chance to be together as a family forever is so very comforting when life gets hard. I am so grateful for the knowledge of the Plan of Salvation.

How I live my faith

Each day I try to be an example to others around me. I work with all of the men in our congregation and it is so fun. Getting to know them, teaching them, and being at their side. I love learning all of their names. One of the things that I hope to be better at each day is being close to the spirit or the good feelings and small promptings that will help me serve others and be closer to my savior. It is often hard to do when you are in the daily grind but I try each day to be a little better. The families that I home teach are wonderful families. They all have their life struggles as I do but we are all having fun getting to know each other better, becoming friends and learning more about the gospel at the same time.
