Hi I'm Matt

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am retired and enjoy spending time with my sweetheart of 44 years. We have 5 children and 23 grandchildren. Most of my first career was in the retail industry and my second was in workplace safety. I enjoy spending my time repairing things around the house, spending time with my grandchildren, fishing, cooking, and just enjoying life.

Why I am a Mormon

When I heard the message of the restored Gospel and the account of the First Vision of the Prophet Joseph Smith, something touched my inner being to the point that to deny the feeling would have been to deny the very existence of God. I continued to listen to the message of the restored Gospel and a few months later my wife and I were baptized. The teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints helped my wife and I be better spouses, and parents. We have had the joy of watching or children grow in the Church and now our grandchildren are being taught Gospel principles in their homes. The teachings of the restored Gospel has brought meaning, purpose and peace to my life. Our lives are not without trials, challenges, and disapointments but understanding the basics of" Who we are", " Why we are here", and "Where we are going" (after this life) makes all things this life can bring bearable, do-able and WORTH IT. I bear witness of the divinity of the teachings of the Church. I know that we are all sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father. I have read the Book of Mormon and believe it to be the work of God and another testament of Jesus Christ. I am grateful that Heavenly Father would provide a Prophet on the earth today to lead and guide His children. I know that Jesus Christ is the redeemer of all mankind. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church I have had many opportunities when called upon to accept speaking and teaching assignments. I have been asked to serve in a variety of leadership and support positions in the Wards I have attended. In addition to accepting assignments in the Church I have also served my community by serving on a City Council and Mayor of a small City, I also served on County and state Legislative committees. Prior to my membership in the Church I would have never believed that I would have had the opportunity or desire to do these things. Being a member of the Church gave me a greater desire to do good things in my life, to be a better example to my children and to my friends and neighbors in my community. The Gospel has brought joy to my life which I try to share with others in everything I do.
