Hi I'm Rick

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been happily married to my sweetheart for 20 years, and we have six children; two girls and four boys. Although family life is busy with six kids, we enjoy weekly date nights together. We like to go to Jamba Juice as often as we can. Our family enjoys many activities such as going to the lake to wakeboard, going camping and motorcycling. Two of my sons and I recently got scuba certified and look forward to many years of doing that together. I enjoy golfing with my sons and my father. I am an attorney and my practice is focused on business and real estate transactions.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints most all my life. My mother was baptized a member of the Church when she was in High School and my father became a member when I was 5 years old. I am the oldest of five siblings. I have two brothers and two sisters. My brothers and I all served full-time missions and all three of us learned a foreign language. I was the first person to serve a full-time mission in my family. Growing up in a home with parents that taught me the gospel and encouraged our regular attendance at Sunday meetings and youth activities created the foundation of my own personal testimony of the gospel. But it wasn't until I went into the mission field that I really learned for myself that the Church really is the Lord's church and teaches the fullness of His gospel. After much prayer and teaching the principles of the gospel to the people where I served, I came to know for myself through the Holy Ghost that Heavenly Father really hears and answers our prayers and that Jesus is our brother and loves us infinitely. I have had countless other instances where the Holy Ghost has testified of truth to me. Because of all these personal experiences I know for myself that the principles and doctrines the Church teaches are true and when followed bring happiness into my life.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have tried to follow the counsel from Church leaders to hold weekly family meetings on Monday nights. We call it Family Home Evening. During Family Home Evening we teach our kids about our Heavenly Father's plan for His children. We read scriptures together and sing songs and play games together. Sometimes we just get in the car and go get shaved ice. We have family prayers each morning and evening to give thanks for all that Heavenly Father gives us and to ask for His help during the day. Another rewarding thing about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that every member is given the opportunity to serve. It is truly one of the great distinguishing features of the Church. I have held several different positions over the years, but I have spent a majority of my adult years serving in the youth programs of the Church. I have mostly worked with the young men doing scouting activities, sports and helping them prepare for their full-time missionary service. It is very fulfilling to see the young men and young women in the Church live such good and virtuous lives.
