Hi I'm Devin

I was born and bred in North Carolina. I love playing the guitar and singing. I hope to become a great father, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love reading, singing, and working with other people. Reading is so great! Growing up, I read the stories of great authors like Jack London, Jules Verne, Charles Dickens, and Norton Juster (Author of what remains one of my favorite books, The Phantom Tollbooth). I came to love many of my personal heroes through books- George Washington and Nathaniel Bowditch being two of my favorites. I have loved music since the day I was born. I tend to lean toward music with folk or jazz flavor, although I like just about everything. I've sung in a couple of choirs and a few musicals, and I take whatever opportunity I can to sing wherever I go. I really love to make people happy. Whenever I can, I cheer up those around me.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but my real conversion to the church came in high school. Many things start to change around that time, and I decided I really wanted to know whether the Book of Mormon was true or not. I knew it had to be one or the other, and I decided I was going to find out. I read the whole book, and eventually came to know the truth of it through the last section- that of Moroni. His words, combined with heartfelt prayer, created a feeling inside me that I could not deny. I wanted to follow this gospel, for I knew it was true.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a two-year mission for the church. There are many challenges, but I feel the spirit comfort me and encourage me onward. The work is not easy, but the Lord is great, and I trust in Him.
