Hi I'm Heather

I'm from Omaha. I was introduced to the Church by the musical "Come Home to Kanesville" and I am eternally grateful. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the only member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in my family. I lived with my parents while I finished college. I have one older brother. I am 22 years old. I am currently serving a mission in the Boise Idaho Mission, from December 2011 till June 2013. I have a Bachelors degree in Biology. I love to read, travel, act, and sing. I worked at a Zoo for about 4 years and I loved working with the animals. I have worked with marmosets, lemurs, goats, snakes, foxes, lamas, rabbits, pigs, birds, African Hunting Dogs, a cow, and a few other things... I also work with insects which grosses most people out but I love most insects, especially walking sticks.

Why I am a Mormon

I worked in the insect house at the zoo for almost 3 years. It was while I was working one busy day in July of 2010 that I met some "Awesome Mormons." They came into my building and were more respectful and nice than anyone else that I had been dealing with on that Hot summer day. I asked why they were there they said they were in a musical “Come Home to Kanesville” I asked for and received a card with the information on it. I went to the show the next night. I felt something that night that I knew wanted, although I didn't know what it was at the time, I now know it was the Holy Spirit. After the show I talked to the cast for a few minutes but they were called in for notes so I left. The next night I was going to have to work late so I would not be able to go to the show again. I really wanted to understand the feeling that I had had the night before. I prayed to God to know if this was what I was looking for and if it was to make it possible to go again and find out more. About 40 minutes before the show was due to start one of my coworkers came up to me and said "You wanted to leave early right? I can cover for you." I was out the door so fast it was crazy. I drove the 20 minutes to the show. I watched the show and I felt the same feelings again! That night when they were called in for notes I had three people almost drag me in with them. One of the girls bore a beautiful testimony on how she knew the Book of Mormon was true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was true. So when they handed me a Book of Mormon and asked me to read I knew I would. I was baptized October 31, 2010. I can now say the same thing she did. I know the Book of Mormon is true and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Gods true Church restored to the Earth today. The cast of the show are now some of my best friends.

How I live my faith

This past summer I was in the show “Come Home to Kanesville” and we had a young women get baptized this year similar to my story. I loved being in the show. I made new friends with so many different members from all over the United States who were all together with the same goal of sharing some of the history of Kanesville and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I loved my calling in the Church of working with the eight and nine year old girls and helping them learn more about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It was often funny when I had to ask THEM questions that I didn't know because I was a recent convert. I am now living my faith by serving in the Boise Idaho Mission and helping others come closer to Christ just like the missionaries did for me.
