Hi I'm Corey Jensen

I am grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

About Me

I am currently going to school to become a high school teacher of English. Other than a love for writing and literature, I also love geology and outdoor recreation. I have been married about three years to a wonderful young woman from home. A little after our first year of marriage we had our first baby boy three months early and away from home. It was hard to see him so small and helpless in the hospital for two months. However, we were extremely blessed and he pulled through without any complications. He is now healthy, strong, and running all over the place.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in Utah and was baptized when I was 8 years old. However, my parents were not active and the church and consequently I did not attend. During middle and high school, I began to live the party life that I thought would bring me happiness. Giving in to peer pressure I made lots of poor choices that pulled me further and further from the church and the Savior. Deep down I knew that my lifestyle was wrong, and I hid a lot of it from my family and others that I knew would be disappointed. It got to the point that I was living a lie. On the outside I acted happy, but inside I lacked the happiness that I thought the party life would bring. It was during my senior year, that a family friend and my bishop at the time really began to help. He called me in for an interview, and as I sat outside his office I told myself, "No matter what he asks, I will tell him I am fine and give him all the 'right' answers." But when I stepped in his office that attitude quickly changed when he asked me if I wanted to serve as a missionary for the church. At that moment the spirit softened my heart and I broke down. He listened as I told him what was going on and he helped me through. He directed me to go home and pray to our Heavenly Father and ask for His help. I did so. That one prayer changed my course of life forever. During that prayer I felt the spirit more strongly that ever before. I knew then that I had a father in heaven who loved me. I knew that he sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the price for my sins. I knew that through the Savior I could be cleansed and healed. I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was the Lord's church on the Earth. I still know these things and with His help have changed my life completely. I went on to serve a mission and now have a wonderful wife and a happy little son. Christ truly can change our lives if we open our hearts and let him.

How I live my faith

Since I have changed my life around I have had many opportunities to learn and grow closer to the Savior. Serving as a missionary is one of the greatest blessings of my life. There is nothing better than having the opportunity to share the gospel with others. I have also had the chance to teach young men the principles of the gospel, help lead a group of 30 or so men in church lessons and service. Currently, I am serving as a secretary for the leaders of the Church in my area. It has been such a blessing to work with men who are so close to the spirit. In my family, we are striving to do the best we can to follow the council of our prophet and make sure we are saying prayers as a family and studying the scriptures. This is such a blessing in our busy lives. With all the stress of school, work, money, and all the other things that surround us in our busy lives, the difference it makes for our family to be able to take a break from the world and as a family draw closer to God, is wonderful. And then there is the temple. We are lucky enough to live pretty close to a temple. Me and my wife have made it a goal to attend weekly. Though this to is hard with the busy schedule of school and work, it is worth it. I can honestly say that I am so grateful for all these seemingly little things that have helped me feel the spirit and love of my Father and Savior. I know that it is through these things that I can bring my family back to them. If we will do the things our Savior has asked we can be an eternal family.
