Hi I'm Emily

I'm a Stay-at-Home Mom also caring for elderly parents. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the sunshine state in a large blended family. I loved being in nature but I didn't love the heat & humidity. I attended a small jr. college in Idaho and spent some time visiting Utah, Wyoming & Colorado and fell in love with the beauty of the West. I love living where the seasons are so dramatic & the scenery in so diverse with just a short drive. I am a mother of 3 wonderful kids. I struggled with infertility to conceive & then postpartum depression after their births. It wasn't an easy road but I love being a Mom! We spend a lot of time together as a family. We love to go off-roading in the Jeep, or Geocaching (treasure hunting as my kids call it), or primitive camping. We just love to be in God's beauty & spend time together. My elderly parents (77 & 87) have lived with us for 5 years. It's a blessing to be able to give back to them love & help at this time in their lives. It can also be challenging at times but family always comes first. I also love music, dancing, board games, TV, crafts, & food (cooking & eating it). I am an active volunteer at the kids school & love to volunteer at community events or with charities when I can. Life is not always easy but with family & friends around it's always worth it. Sometimes you have to pull yourself up and find your smile by serving someone else. I guess that is my motto in life. Life is full of peaks & valleys. So, surround yourself with people you love and serve with a smile.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith & belief in the LDS faith is the center of my life and lifestyle. My belief in Jesus Christ and His Atonement is where my core foundation is rooted. Like I've said life is not easy and a belief in a loving Heavenly Father who knows me personally and cares about me & my family is what makes the hard times bearable. I talk with my Heavenly Father often & feel His guidance through the Holy Spirit often in my day. I know He hears me, knows what is best for me in my life & will never give me a heavier burden than I can carry. I am a daughter with many faults to overcome but through the miracle of the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can be changed, healed, forgiven & saved. This knowledge is what gives me hope to become the daughter of God I was sent here to be. It is what gives me the strength to keep trying to become a better person, daughter, wife, mother, neighbor & friend. Everyday I am given a chance to do better than yesterday and when I don't succeed I am given a do-over! It really is miraculous. I also believe a family is an eternal unit. In a family you have joy & pain. In a family is where we learn how to become Christlike. You need all the Christlike qualities to be a successful family..... being: Forgiving, Loving, Repentant, Compassionate, Patient, Humble, Selfless, Kind, etc. We are not perfect and so it can be tough at time. This again makes me so grateful for a forgiving & patient Heavenly Father & Savior. Each week as I attend Church I find strength to keep going & try again to improve in the coming week. Striving to be an eternal family is my ultimate hope & goal.

How I live my faith

I participate actively in my faith. I serve every chance I get. I love visiting with my church family and especially love the "sisters" I have in the Women's organization at church. I attend worship services every Sunday. Participating in the Sacrament Services really helps to 'fill my vessel' as I prepare to take on a new week. Sunday School gives me the awesome opportunity to study the scriptures with my brothers & sisters in the gospel. Hearing their perspectives & life experiences is such a strengthening experience for me. I serve in the Children's organization as often as I can. I love teaching them the gospel of Jesus Christ and feeling of their sweet, pure spirits. I also serve as a Cub Scout Den Leader. I love working with these boys and watching them gain knowledge & life skills. My faith carries over in everything I do. My belief helps me in all decisions I make. I love reaching out to my neighbors & people in my community in need. Serving and giving of myself is who I believe we are all asked to be. We are God's hands here on earth. So often we are an answer to others prayers & don't even realize it. How I live my life & the person I am is what I know my reward in heaven is based on. I want to be the best me I can be. Each of us are at different levels of abilities to live a Christlike life but it is the trying that brings us together. We are stronger when we support each other in our trials instead of trying to go it alone.
