Hi I'm Betty

I am a Cuban convert to the Church. Nothing of greater importance I have done in my life. It shapes me & defines me in every way!

About Me

I was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the US when I was 5 years old. I grew up in sunny CA. I was a bilingual teacher in CA for years and then decided to stay home to raise my children. Currently I am an interpreter for our school district. I am a wife and mother. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and have 4 children. Our oldest is 26, married and currently attending graduate school for accounting. Our 22 year old is living in Utah and working towards a bachelor's degree in Social Work. My 19 year old hopes to find a career working with and training horses. And my 12 year old is in 8th grade and loves being a cheerleader. My family is everything to me.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was 19 years old. I came to be close friends with some LDS girls that I knew in my high school. They were a positive influence in my life and eventually I came to understand why they were so committed to their faith. I personally came to know how our savior, Jesus Christ can touch our lives and change us forever. I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know without a shadow of a doubt that this church is true and led by Him. I've seen its organization shape the lives of families throughout my life as it has done with mine. This is possible because it is run by a prophet of God that is continually leading us in the direction we should go. We are a happy people who wish to serve and love others. We want only the freedom to live the gospel as we feel Heavenly Father wishes us to do so and we wish for all other to have the same privilege.

How I live my faith

As a member of the church, I have had the blessing of working with the children of the church. I have seen how close they are to our Heavenly Father and how much He loves them. I have come to understand how precious the pure faith of a child is and how we should strive to be likewise. I've also worked with the youth and been a witness to how the gospel can help young people maneuver successfully through the hardships of adolescence and come to find their way home. It's also been my privileged to work with the adults in the church. Both young and old, married or single, men and women. I've seen individuals come into the church as brand new converts and watched how the gospel has shaped their lives and that of their families. I have had the blessing of being an example to others of the importance of these principles in my life and I pray that my actions and dealings with others will always be a positive influence to those I cross paths with in life.
