Hi I'm Jonathan

I love mountain biking. I studying to be an Engineer. I enjoy programming. I speak Spanish. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

So far, I've spent most of my life living in Illinois. My siblings and I are quadruplets, which at times was frustrating, but for the most part has been a great blessing to me. I've pretty much grown up in the church as my parents became members when I was around 3 years old. I enjoy doing a variety of random things. Included in this list are scouting, math, computer programming, biking, and tap dancing. I’m currently studying to be a Mechanical Engineer. I enjoy taking things apart, rebuilding things, and finding ways to fix things that are broken.

Why I am a Mormon

Considering I grew up in the church, I don't really have an official conversion story. I was baptized when I was eight years old like most members who grow up in the church. I also did my best to keep all the commandments and to always strive to do my best in whatever I chose to do. I did, however, need to obtain my own testimony, which I have long since done. While I attended high school, I took early morning seminary classes which taught me more about The Book of Mormon, The Bible, and the Doctrine and Covenants, all of which we believe to be holy scripture containing the words of God. Through these classes, I gained a better understanding of the scriptures as well as how I can better study and learn from them. Since then, I have read The Book of Mormon in particular on numerous occasions. I also have tried the promise given within its pages: ask God to know if it is true. I know without a doubt that The Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith. I also know that God continues to call prophets on the earth today to lead and to guide his people. I know that by living the commandments which God gives us, we receive blessings. I have seen the blessings that the commandments bring into our lives as I have diligently striven to keep them. I have gained a knowledge and a testimony that the commandments of God aren't there to restrict us, but they are there because God knows how we can truly be happy.

How I live my faith

I’m currently serving by helping keep track of members in the congregation. By doing such, individuals can have a better idea of how they can serve others. I had the opportunity to serve in the Oakland/San Francisco Bay Area to share the Gospel and the blessings that it brings. With this, I shared that God has a plan for us; that the knowledge of this plan has been restored to men through modern day Prophets; and that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father by living the Gospel which is having faith in Jesus Christ, repenting of our sins, being baptized, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. This is all made possible through the Atonement of Christ, or the sacrifice which he performed for us in the garden of Gethsemane and on the cross. Although I do not serve in a full time capacity now like I did in the Bay Area, I still seek to help others obtain a better understanding of these truths.
