Hi I'm Debbie

I grew up in Arizona. I am a mother of four. I am an Air Force wife (he's retired now). I am a teacher. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up mainly in Arizona, my dad was in the military. When I married, my husband joined the Air Force and we have lived many places. We were blessed to have been stationed in Berlin, Germany when the Berlin wall came down. We eventually were stationed and then retired in Nebraska. We have four children. I returned to school to earn a degree in education once my children were in school. Currently, I substitute teach. I love to read, sew, and travel; but what I enjoy most is being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members of the church when I was born so I grew up in the church; but I also studied the scriptures and prayed about things I learned to KNOW they were true. I have never had one defining moment, but grew firmer in my conviction to the gospel of Jesus Christ as I learned line upon line. For me, all the scriptures, (Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) weave together to help me see that this gospel and the plan of salvation was put here on the earth from the very start and was planned for before the world began so that we can succeed and return to live with our Heavenly Father. He loves us and yearns for us to return to Him. You can find proof of this in everything in the world around us....you just have to look. Part of this plan is Heavenly Father's Only Begotten son, Jesus Christ coming to earth to atone for our sins. It is through Him that we can be cleansed when we repent; it is through Him that we can gain exaltation. All of this, is to help us return to our Heavenly Father and live with Him again, AND it IS posssible for every one of us to do this, if we heed the scriptures, the teachings of the prophets, and follow Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I have four children and although I substitute teach, being a mother is my full time job and the BEST way I live my faith. I feel, it is my duty to bring up children who love the Lord and understand His teachings so they can in turn bring up children who love the Lord. I have served in the church in various callings, with the youth and the young children, as well as serving the Relief Society (women's organization). I am currently teaching high school youth the Old Testament in Early Morning Seminary. We meet each day before school at 5:50 am. I love serving in the church. I am a substitute teacher, and although I don't teach religion in public school, I can serve and live a Christ-like life by treating each student and each person I come in contact with as the Savior would.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Debbie
It really is simple, if you have a true desire to know our Father in Heaven, read and study the scriptures, then ask Our Father in sincere prayer of the truth of the scriptures and if he is there. He will answer. Then continue to study, pray, and live His commandments, as you do, Heavenly Father will build a bond with you and you will become more confident and sure in knowing Him and of His love for you.
