Hi I'm Emily

I just returned from a year studying abroad in London and I want to transfer to the Art Institute of Chicago. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a Fine Art and Theatre student. I just returned from a study abroad year in London that greatly enriched my life and artistic voice. I'm planning to serve a mission for the church because of the sincere joy and guidance it has brought me in my life. I just received my mission call to New York, New York! When I return from my mission I'm planning on transferring to the Art Institute of Chicago! I respect the school and have longed to go there. I would like to obtain a Masters in Art Therapy to work with children who have been through abuse. Art has been a consistent tool for my personal growth. Beyond that I absolutely adore children! Imagination wise we are on the same page! lol I gladly step into their world with them to play, discover, and grow. I have seen too many people have their childhood stolen from them. I want to combine my love of art and children to bless the lives of others. My ultimate goal is to stop or at least minimize the problems that develop as a result of an abusive childhood.

Why I am a Mormon

I had to make a choice recently to choose which way I would live my life. I could no longer be drawn out in the middle. I chose to invest my whole heart in living the principles and doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. These principles were not new to me for I grew up in the church. However, when I finally decided to live it with my WHOLE Heart and give it everything I had in me, it was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. I felt a drastic improvement in my life. As I applied my desire to live the commandments and live a righteous life I felt an increase of love. Joy and light filled my soul and I didn't know how to keep it all inside of me. I wondered why I had never tried it that way before. Now I know that even when the storms of life come the Lord is at my side. I love who I am becoming everyday through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

From my day to day activities, I take the time to read my scriptures, pray, and additional uplifting content. Whether through the church magazines like the Ensign or if it's an uplifting book. I take time each day to focus my love on God and serving him. I also really like to listen to 89.1 K-Love Christian Radio station because they playing such fun songs with a profound message at the core. I am open to talk about my faith with those who ask and I live my faith with confidence and love.
