Hi I'm Tomasita

I'm artsy. I love learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Artsy. Yes. That is me. Although I am currently still a student and have yet to completely commit to a career at least I can say: I am an artiste! I love to learn and progress. One might say I have a short attention span or that I am fickle, but I just like to think I have an unquenchable need to learn! I sing, dance, write poetry, sketch, paint, sew, embroider, crochet, make short movies, ride a motorcycle, play piano, ukulele and clarinet, train in Krav Maga! Yes! I LOVE TO DO EVERYTHING! I am a fan of Studio Ghibli films, The Marx brothers, Old Hollywood, Opera, and Musical theater. I grew up in Canada, but traveled many times to El Salvador in my childhood to visit my family. I speak English, Spanish, and French. I have taken German and Russian courses in the past. I wish to continue delving into the world of languages throughout my life! I love dressing up. I don't just mean looking nice. I thoroughly enjoy changing my look and taking elements from different cultures and adapting them to my wardrobe on a daily basis. I get inspired by things everywhere. It could be a cloud, a movie, an add in a magazine, a song, a pebble, whatever! I will get inspired by something and I will whip an outfit together. It's not always what you see in the magazines, but it's my way of expressing myself to the world without saying a word! People think sometimes I am in costume, I just dress how I feel!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a Mormon. Deciding to stay a Mormon is not always easy I admit, but I can honestly say it is the best decision I have ever made, and continue to make every day. I am a Mormon because it brings me true happiness. I know that in life there is no way of knowing how things will turn out. Despite all the challenges I (and everyone else) meet in the path of life, I find comfort knowing that if I do what the Lord asks me to I won't just be fine, I'll be GREAT! Having a living Prophet in these times gives me the assurance that God is ALIVE! He is no invention of the past, but is eternal. I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon and have asked God if they are true and I know they are because I felt it. I like to think I am sensitive. When I feel something is true, when it makes sense, I know I can't resist it.

How I live my faith

I do my best to listen to the Holy Spirit and apply what I learn from attending church every week. I try to live my life as Christ taught us to: to love my neighbor, to practice what I preach, to study the word of God, to be grateful for everything, and to serve those around me. At church I have served as a Primary Sunday school teacher, a Primary Music Leader, a Choir director, and a Music director, among other things. Despite the fact that I am a busy full-time student I make an effort to make Church and community service a priority. Helping those around me helps remind me that the life I live is not one meant for selfishness, but one for enriching and sharing. Life cannot be lived alone. Christ taught us to love one another. For me actions are the greatest expression of feelings and if you know something to be true you will act on that knowledge. I know Christ Loves me. I know he loves you. This knowledge helps me continue living my faith day by day. I have my ups and downs but I always come back to God because I remember who I am and the divine heritage that I am blessed to be apart of! I know doing what the Lord expects of me brings me the happiness I feel and I am confident when I say relying on the Lord's guidance to make the right decisions is what makes me happy!
