Hi I'm Candice

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My life keeps me busy and fulfilled. I am 39 years old and a dedicated mother of four children whom I love with all my heart. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and continue to improve our relationship each day. I fall in love with him more and more as we have endured many trials together. I have a B.A. in Music Theater and a B.A. in Psychology, and I recently completed a teaching program and am K-6 certified. I love teaching children and helping them develop their God-given potentials. Running and working out are important to me. Exercise helps relieve my stress and gives me more energy to continue living life. I have competed in natural bodybuilding and completed two marathons. My marathons have given me new perspective on life and the importance of being prepared, helping one another along life's journey, and enduring to the end. In fact, I ran the last 16 miles of my last marathon backwards after my knee gave out at Mile 10. It's amazing what we can accomplish when we set our mind to it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS Mormon family. My testimony of Jesus Christ developed at a young age. I remember being touched by the Spirit when my mother was reading the scripture story of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. I started to cry as I thought of Jesus Christ suffering for our sins and felt grateful to him. I knew then that he loved me personally, as well as each person who has ever lived on the earth. I have so many wonderful memories of going to church with my parents and 11 siblings. I loved going to Primary for kids ages 3-12 on Sundays and singing the Primary songs. As I grew into a teenager, life became more difficult for me. We moved three times in three different states during my high school years. My parents were separated for a time and we didn't have much money. By the end of my junior year in high school, I became insecure in who I was and gave into some temptations that came my way. My testimony suffered because of it. I ignored the promptings of the Spirit and hardened my heart for a time. Sin only led to more unhappiness, and I longed to feel close to my Savior again. While going through the repentance process, I grew closer to the Lord and to my Heavenly Father. I spent many times on my knees praying to Heavenly Father to help make me strong. I also studied the scriptures and attended church on a weekly basis. My testimony was strengthened, my heart softened, and my only desire was to keep the commandments and live worthy of God's blessings. Belonging to the Church of Jesus Christ is a blessing in my life. My understanding of where I came from, why I am here, and where I am going helps keep me focused on what's really important in this life. I have a testimony that Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings. I believe that we were created in God's image and that we are divine sons and daughters of a Heavenly Father who loves us. I also believe that families can be together forever.

How I live my faith

Attending church each Sunday and observing the Sabbath Day are an important part of my life. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I have the opportunity to serve in callings. Currently, I am a Primary Teacher for the six-year-old class (CTR 6). Primary is the Church's organization for children ages 3 to 11. I am grateful to be able to teach the youth about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am also thankful that my own children are learning the Primary songs and able to participate in Primary by saying a prayer, reading a scripture, or giving a talk when assigned. This helps them to develop their testimony of Jesus Christ and understand the importance of following his teachings. My favorite calling was serving as the Primary Chorister each week. I always felt the Spirt as the children sang songs about Jesus Christ and our purpose here on earth. Children are truly precious in the sight of the Lord. I am blessed to be their teacher and to feel of their goodness.
