Hi I'm Barb

I'm a daughter of God, trying to live up to my divine heritage one day at a time. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home, home-schoolin' momma of 3 kids - 10, 8 and 4. I love the look on my childrens' faces when they discover new things. Along the same line, I love learning more about anything; particularly about science and nature. Being able to see the hand of God in the majesty of our world is fascinating and humbling. I find peace and satisfaction in gardening. At times I feel over-whelmed by my responsibilites as wife, mother, home-maker and teacher. But I know with daily prayer, (and maybe a few minutes of silence now and then) that it's worth it to have a wonderful husband and amazing children who love me for who I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my whole life. The day-to-day peace and happiness I feel by attending church, reading scriptures and praying is the main reason why, after 36 years, I still choose to be Mormon. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has the fulness of the Gospel, as taught and set up by Jesus in the New Testament. I know that Joseph Smith, as a young man, prayed to know of the true church, and was answered in person by God. I am truly grateful for his faith and trials, so that I can fully enjoy spiritual guidance from the Book of Mormon. I know that we have a living prophet on the earth today, and I am thankful to know that he is directed and inspired by God to direct the affairs of our church. I know that the many programs of our church are successful because they are designed by God and communicated to our prophet. I enjoy the peace I feel from the knowledge that I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me for who I am. He understands my struggles, and knows that I am not perfect. But through studying His word, hard work and praying, I can work toward perfection. I find solace in the knowledge that when I have lived and long, full life with my loving family, that I can continue in the eternities with my family. These things I know because I have prayed sincerely, and listened to the still, small voice, affirming the truth to my very soul.

How I live my faith

In a world that tries so hard to prove that there is no God, I have a passion for seeing God's hand in everything. I love pointing out the beauty and miracles to anyone who is willing to listen. I have been inspired by a lovely group of ladies that I met for home-schooling. We are all of different faiths, but all share in our belief of a loving Father in Heaven. We study the Bible and inspirational words together weekly during the school year, and it has increased my faith in a living God. I have gained much strength from my interactions with women who have faith in God, and are not afraid to share their thoughts and feelings. I feel rejuvinated each week, after attending church meetings. To listen to the experiences and testimonies of fellow friends and neighbors helps to bouy me through the challenges of each week. Throughout the week, I read scriptures and pray with my children. I feel that our children are vital to the future of our world, and that we are obligated to teach them the importance of a stable family life, to be God-fearing and God-loving, and to recognize that every person on this earth is a child of God. We all make mistakes, but we should be forgiving, and love each other. The more people that are taught these basic ideas, the better our world can be. As Jesus said, Love one another as he loves us!
