Hi I'm Alicia

I grew up in California and now live and love the mountains and beauty of Colorado. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy mother of three girls but in my "spare" time I have many interests. I love to run, bike, play soccer (yes I'm a soccer mom!), camp and hike, read, garden, and so much more. I received my accounting degree many years ago and am one of those that actually enjoys preparing tax returns and crunching numbers.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS home and received my own testimony of the gospel early on. I'm grateful for the gift of the Holy Ghost that leads me in my life from helping me make life-changing decisions to just letting me know that I am loved by Heavenly Father. The Book of Mormon and other scriptures are staples in my life as they give me the direction I need.

How I live my faith

In my ward I am president of an organization of amazing women. I am blessed to be a part of their lives and have the chance to visit with them in their home and serve them in various ways from bringing meals when ill or new babies are born to just listening to daily happenings. Previously I taught the adults in Sunday School and we studied the Old Testament and New Testament together.

How can faith in Jesus Christ influence us in our marriages and family relationships? in our friendships?

Alicia
I think a successful marriage must include God in it. We each have our own failings or shortcomings but knowing that there is a God and that He wants our marriage to succeed not only in this life but in the life to come helps us look past those shortcomings in our spouse and have motivation to work on our own. The same is true about friendships. I see it all the time with women who build great friendships because they have served each other and loved each other through their common bond of faith. Do Mormons regard the Bible as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Alicia
Mormons do believe the Bible is holy scripture! I was in college when I read the Old Testament cover to cover for the first time and was amazed at the history and culture that it contained. I love the stories of faith of Moses parting the Red Sea, Esther saving her people, Daniel in the lions den and so many more. The New Testament is also rich in doctrine and examples of faith but the best part is learning the actual life of Christ and the disciples that followed him. Show more Show less

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Alicia
My family loves nature. Every time we go camping in the mountains I marvel at the creations God has blessed us with. It is an amazing experience when we reach a mountain peak and look out at the other mountains, lakes, rivers, and clouds and feel God's love for us in creating something so beautiful. A colorful sunrise or sunset, rainbow, lightning storm, all events of nature let me know there is a Creator. Even looking at the human body and how it can regrow skin, the intricacies of the eye brain or heart also tell me it wasn't haphazard. Show more Show less
