Hi I'm Jacob Householder

I love meeting new people, I love service, I love learning, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

Hey! I'm Jacob. I'm the oldest of 7 kids and live in Rexburg Idaho. I'm studying Business at BYU Idaho and just trying to stay warm! I love spending time outside! Unless it's freezing. Camping is pretty sweet. I also really like swimming (only when the water is warm). I thought I was good at basketball, but apparently I'm not allowed to tackle people. I'm sure I'll get better someday. I love ultimate frisbee, geocaching, long boarding, and I like to think I'm good at soccer and volleyball :) I love preforming! I've been playing trumpet for about 12 years now. I have played in several bands including my school's 130 person marching band. I started taking piano lessons when I was in 4th grade but I only stuck with it for about a year. I have recently taken up piano again and have been trying to teach myself for the past few years. I sang as a bass for 4 years in high school. I also love dancing- especially country swing dancing! If you've never tried it I highly recommend it :) I've traveled across the United States singing, dancing, competing, performing, and recording from California to Florida. I'm obsessed with learning about anything and everything. I especially love learning about American history, politics, the Constitution, and prophecy, and I love sharing what I learn with others. My dream is to be a public speaker and to teach seminars on the constitution. I am so passionate about freedom and have a strong testimony of the sacred heritage and destiny of America.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church and was raised in a family and by parents who are all faithful members of the church. I grew up familiar with the scriptures and teachings of Jesus Christ and prophets of the Church, both ancient and modern. My testimony has come gradually; line upon line, precept upon precept as I have seen the tender mercies of the Lord in my life. I have read the Book of Mormon, which is the keystone of our religion. I have studied the Bible and have personally found that the Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand in hand, just as Ezekiel said they would (Ezekiel 37). I have prayed about these teachings. I have studied them out in my heart and in my mind and I know that they are true. I know that Jesus is the Christ; that He is the living Son of the living God. He is my Savior, my Redeemer, my advocate with the Father. I know that he came to earth and suffered for my sins. He died that I might live. I know that without Him I could never return to live with my Father in heaven, but because of the Atonement and through his grace, if I have faith in Him and always strive to be like Him, I can have eternal life. I believe that every soul is great in the sight of God. I believe that God loves all his children, and that his greatest desire is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of man. I testify that the God of heaven and his Son, Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. I testify that Joseph Smith was truly called to be the prophet of the restoration of the fullness of the Gospel. He did in reality speak with God and with angels, and was instructed to restore the Church of Jesus Christ. I testify that the Book of Mormon is a true record. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. I love that book. I know that the priesthood, the literal power and authority to act in God's name, has been restored. I know that families can be together forever. I know that the Church has been, and is being led by modern prophets and apostles, who are truly called of God.

How I live my faith

One day at a time. Being a member of this church is a huge commitment, but it's so rewarding! I love attending church every week! I feel the Spirit of God each time I attend church and take the sacrament and as I reflect on that past week and have the opportunity to repent and renew the covenants I have made with my Father in heaven. Each week a handful of members of the congregation are asked to give a talk on a specific topic. I feel privileged each time I am asked to speak to the ward, and look forward to sharing my testimony with those in my congregation. I also look forward to special and regular events and recognize them as opportunities to strengthen my own faith and testimony, and to bring friends of other faiths. I love going home teaching, which is where my assigned companion and I visit the homes of 2 families at least once a month. We share spiritual and uplifting messages and assist and serve them in every way we can. I love serving others and putting together service projects. I look for opportunities to serve others and share the gospel with them. I'm currently serving a 2 year unpaid mission for my church and dedicating 100% of every day to serving the Lord and sharing his gospel with the world. It's been an incredible experience so far.
